Welcome and Congrats! Nice looking truck. Hope you're just getting acquainted with it and it's nothing. FYI, there's also a TX/Pro thread or two to show off the new toy.

Changing from 87 to 89 octane seems to fix the noise for me. I don't do it all the time but when I do it's noticeable

The transmission is also not very quite in these trucks and sometimes can sound like its clunking ect which may also be what you're hearing!

Shifting from P to D to R and such with the windows down I indeed hear that clunk you're talking about. ;) Don't hear anything when it's auto shifting though. Just when I move that gear shifter.

Welcome, and very nice truck! Part of it is the drive through....I get the same thing in other vehicles when I drive along where they have those concrete barriers along the center of the freeway....window down and I hear lots of things you never hear without the wall to reflect it back. Will definitely amplify noises. My biggest problem with that issue is when driving my FJ40 in those situations as it is a drivers side exhaust and for some reason the reflected noise from the Flowmaster / 350 Chebie just sounds better with my foot in it!

That's something I can try also. I made an appt at the dealer for Saturday, I cannot wait to see the looks the mechanic is going to give me lol. Will update what they say it might be. I'm hoping it's just the taco tick! :) this site is so informative I'm overwhelmed with so much tacoma info lol.

Any update to what the dealer said your noise is related to?

It's probably that nice looking Pro grille making the noise. You should remove it and I'll trade you my regular 15' grille for no charge. I'll even cover shipping.

Toyota actually said its just my exhaust making that sound. I didn't kno exhausts rattled liked that. Just weird to me. Then again it's my first time w a truck let alone an exhaust on a vehicle lol.

    UPDATE:

So I went to toyota two wks ago and got dismissed right away by the tech he said my truck was fine. I returned this past weekend because I told them there is no way that rattle is normal. Tech finally said oh in think I heard what ur talking about... so took it in today to get it officially serviced. They said there was a metal pipe touching in the exhaust. They took It out and cut it and put it back In so now I don't hear the sound. It was near the front of the truck and I always thought it was the end where the exhaust actually is. So it was not the taco tick just some bs pipe that came from the manufacturer too long. I thought it was weird. But it is fixed now. :) so nobody has ever had this issue?
