I can't seem to get clarification on this piece. All spec sheets show that the TRD OR comes with them but I can't find the shocks on the TRD Sport...

I do not think they do sport.

From Toyota "Tacoma TRD Sport models are equipped with sport-tuned shocks" no mention of them but the very next line states they come on the OR model. So I say no.

It seems the Bilstein shocks that were used on the Sport models are being replaced with a new cheaper, I mean sport shock instead.

They actually kind of suck truthfully. They are decent for what they are but consider it a blessing in disguise to upgrade later. ;)

There are 3 types of shocks on the 2016, the normal, sport and Bilstein off-road ones.

What is a "sport truck" and why was it made available ?
It was for people who liked the looks and decal of the OR but had no intention of using it that way. Lower profile tires, fake hood scoop tells you it is more for glitz with the appropriate options and maybe better on road handling then guts. It really doesn't need any more of an off road performance shock and perhaps less then the SR5.

eh. I hate to disagree but the "sport" fits my personal needs and a lot of others. I like the color matched mirrors etc. plus the scoop just cause...plus I do "off road" which for me is fire roads of sugar sand to get to places that I don't need 4x4 but need a "truck"... I would use the OR maybe once every six months to say I did...er or maybe never in Florida (unless you mud; yea I know fellow Flo-growns you guys mud big time) I don't :) As for guts? I assume you mean four wheel drive because all the engines are the same. To each is own.

Sounds to me like you are agreeing with me. ;-) regardless of what Tacoma 4 wd you get, you get an excellent off road vehicle. The sport fits your needs because it fits your "look" requirement without having to pay for off road mechanics you may never need. I drive over skidder trails in northern Maine.....the Off road set up is preferred by me. Realistically, I have still never needed the locking diff though I use it, just to use once in a while, usually approaching a steep stream rock bed. You need high profile tires, Atrac etc. in those areas. I guess, the Bilstein shocks help, but to tell the truth, I would not notice if they were stock something else. When I looked at the Sport model, it was the SR5 with better appointments, few if any mechanical differences. Great looking truck though and handles better on road...which Florida has a lot more then Maine. We each have the trucks we need.

..Well....the biggest difference between Florida and Maine ARE the roads!....Florida's roads are in great condition...and they are FLAT!...There aint no curvy mountainous roads cos Florida aint got NO mountains!

...Hell!..the main 'pass' in the Everglades is 3-feet above sea-level!...The biggest problem with Florida roads is boredom....they are flat and smooth and ya get 'freeway-hypnotized'....and nod off!

...I lived in that state for 16 years....and only started to enjoy driving again once I moved to California!

...However.....if ANY place in the entire country is gonna get the best Damn mileage....it would be Florida!....:)

Got my '15 Sport in April, came with Bilsteins although I just upgraded to 5100's.
I chose the Sport package because of the DCLB and the TRD package extras.(fishing clients are impressed when I break out the electric fillet knife on the tailgate)

Florida is scenic compared to Texas.
Maine has one piece of flat area, I think it's 2 miles north of Presque Isle in potato country. I think also 90% of all the rusted Toyota frames are from trucks that one time drove through Maine. Never buy a used car owned by anyone who lived in Maine

I never buy anything north of the snow line. There are a few used cars from the northern states around. Have to check the CarFax and pass on them.

I'm quite happy that someone else realizes that the Sport has a Decal that people want. That's the first time I have seen that other than in my one responses. "Ooh, it says TRD. I'll pay extra but not the 1500 extra for the Off Road."

I will be using my future OR for trips mostly to the desert around the Socal area. I love it out there even if we don't take the dirt bikes. It will not be a daily driver because we have a Honda Civic that gets 40mpg with our average driving. We have a short drive to work and we both drive together almost every day. My family lives about 40 miles away and my wife's family lives about 100 miles in both directions, so we get a lot of highway miles. I want a truck to have fun and move stuff and she wants a truck because we keep borrowing my dad's truck to move things. I hope to get a North Rim trip to the Grand Canyon soon after I get the truck
