I am looking a a 2016 TRD Off Road but would like something besides a chrome grill. I have heard the SR grill will be "charcoal". Are there any photos of the SR grill (I could not find any)?

Alternatively, I guess a Limited grill could be swapped in.

From the pictures I have seen, the Limited/Sr5 have the same grill.

The SR has a Limited/Sr5 grill without the Chrome surround.

The TRD's have the ugly ass chrome grill.

It's very hard to tell from the pictures, but the TRD grill only has chrome around the bezel and on the Toyota emblem. The rest is actually a shiny gunmetal grey. I've only seen a few close up pictures that show this better, but the PDF spec sheet states this as well.

Agree, SR is the best looking. Transplanting one on a TRD is complicated by the colors available in SR trim. From this post:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...dated-information.387793/page-3#post-10661191

Jeff has graciously provided the following SR part numbers:

    53100-04500-A0: White (040)
    53100-04500-B0: Silver (1D6)
    53100-04500-B1: Grey (1G3)
    53100-04500-C5: Black (202)
    53100-04500-D0: Red (3R3)

No Quicksand. So perhaps kitbashing an SR grill insert and black surround into a Quicksand bezel may be the only option.

I'm sorry but the new 2016 front grill is super ugly.

    Welcome to 6 months ago.

I'm hoping there's going to be a lot of magnetic grey metallic SR, SR5, and Limited owners out there willing to do the swap with TRD owners. There at least better be one.

Correct. The TRD has a smoked grill. I don't know that it would constitute "chrome".

I think the TRD grill would look good painted a flat black

Agreed. Worried that it would look like crap after being sandblasted by road grit. Might have to strip the chrome/gunmetal finish off of it to get paint to stick well.

Have you noticed the grills on other late model pick-ups? They are huge. By comparison, the new Tacoma grill looks ok to me. I admit, it took some getting used to but I'm ok with it.

Does anyone know if the TRD grill is a smoked chrome or smoke colored paint?

I think the TRD grill would look very good with a white or grey vehicle. With other colors it would probably look better if it were black.
