Finished installing my 1st gen electrical upgrade from @BamaToy1997 thank you Bill! LROR battery box and Deka Intimidator Agm battery. Didn't put the new alternator on yet because the factory plug doesn't match up so waiting to hear on that but I think everything is much cleaner especially the new terminals and I know my battery is not going to move haha

Glad you got it out. Did you reset your CEL ? I think it doesn't go out on its own. I reset mine by unplugging the EFI fuse for a minute or two.

Thanks lol. I haven't yet I'm actually going to go grab the truck from my girlfriends work and take it to oreilys and just reset it there with their code reader.

You don't want any restriction in airflow. You dont want back pressure, that doesn't even make any since. No you don't want a 4 inch pipe, but you don't want restrictions either. Its about gas velocity, getting the exhaust gas out of there as fast as you can. Think about a water house, if you stick the water hose up to a 3 inch pipe, it want flow out very fast, now you hook it up to something smaller then the hose it comes out faster. There has to be a balance. Finding the right size pipe to move the gases fast with providing the least restriction. Equal length header put the exhaust pulses right behind the other so they all help pull each other out of the exhaust. Thats why they usually have the best gains.

If youre going to pull it out anyway, why not just keep the current one and replace the seals and filter. Pulling the tranny and tipping it on its side is probably the only way to get all the fluid out. Keep in mind, the A340 was used on most Toyota and Lexus models, but the valving and computer may be different among models.

I know this is completely irrelevant but I couldn't find your post about when you cleaned your throttle body and iac..what is the iac?

Yeah I could do that, but I'm converting it to 4wd anyways so might as well kill two ducks with one pebble.

I appreciate the feedback, although I don't completely understand what you are saying here.

I have to disagree with some of what you said, as I do want some restriction of air flow. Both the stock intake and stock exhaust restrict air flow. Some choose to open up their intake and exhaust (I considered it briefly), but for a truck that doesn't make sense, it only helps with high end gains on HP hungry vehicles. In my case, I want as much low end torque as possible, without taking a significant bite out of my higher end curve. You can increase low end to a certain extent, but beyond a certain point you begin to cause unnecessary strain on your system at higher RPM, and your curve becomes jumpier and less smooth. Sort of like your water hose metaphor, sure you can decrease the diameter of the hose and get a jet of water that moves faster, but with a water hose you are likely working with a fixed pressure source. An engine increases and decreases the pressure of gases that it is pushing out all the time. Think of jetting a carburetor. You start with the low end, and slowly work your way up the curve until you have a smooth transition through all the RPM range. The position that I am in is like jetting except that it is much more difficult and expensive to trial and error like one would when working on an old bike carb.

Essentially, I need to guess it right the first time, as exhaust work isn't cheap. I'm pretty much going between whether or not to run a muffler. If anyone could chime in on how helpful a muffler is for energy recycling and lowend gains I'd appreciate it. I had a convo a while back with @tooter that touched on this briefly, he is quite knowledgeable about these sorts of things. I believe his stance on it would be to get a Flowmaster because it drops the torque curve by another 100 revs... dude has a major hard-on for Flowmaster baffles!:p

Any and all advice is appreciated.

@gray223 I don't want to sound ungrateful for your comment, I just happen to take exception to some of the points you made. In my case, I don't want to "...[get] the exhaust out of there as fast as I can." I hope to keep the flow just right so that I have killer low end torque, but without restricting my high end so much that going up to 3.5-4 thousand revs on ocassion is futile.
