Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
Twin turbo 6 cylinder Toyota engine... very stout and easy to build up to high power numbers.

Actually, thinking a bit more, the diesel is probably ideal for a trail rig. Lots of low end torque. And the engine itself should be very reliable once the bugs are worked out. You should be able to find decent a 700r4 at almost any salvage yard. Or get a built one from someone like TCI.

6bt or go home. I don't think a 4 would have enough power for this thing.

12v 5.9 cummins with nv4500 trans. he'd even get his MANual trans back then

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
Okay so I took the weekend to change some course here on the truck.

First and foremost the engine is staying put.

I am abandoning my trailer build since I no longer need a trailer...because I picked up a pick up truck yesterday so I can slow down on the cruiser and move axles, transmissions, tcases and shit like that and take my time. I have a bunch of trips coming up all over the east coast from until February for work that I was planning on taking in the burrito but I just don't trust the damn thing and won't until I have gone through it 100% which could take months and months. But when this truck comes out on the other side it's going to be fucking epic I promise.

So what's the new truck...well it's not a Toyota... for the first time in 10 years I will be owning a non toyota. It feels dirty but the tundra just didn't come in the configuration I wanted. I did however buy this from my local Toyota dealer so I feel less dirty.

Okay stand by for slow progress and lots of T&A pics during the build courtesy of those following along.

    Fuck me running...
