What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

@Fernando let us know what you find for lca's i need to replace mine but not sure if i want to pay stealership prices..

 

It's just pressed on. There's like a little sleeve inner part, which is why you can't put your screwdriver in all the way to pop it off. But just keep prying on it.

I just finished mine up gotta get a new dust cap for it (the thing you're getting off) and put the tire on

 

Had a facepalm moment today too when I went to return this new CV axle (BTW my old one fell completely apart when we pulled it out LOL I've been running a ripped boot for I think a few years now. I was waiting for it to start making noise and it never did). Noticed the seal was bent and the NAPA guy was like "are you sure it's not supposed to be like that?"



But got that replaced and most everything done on the other side. Only thing left to do is get a new dust shield for the hub, put the tire back on, and get it aligned.

 

Finally made it my bi+c#...

 

Any trouble with the tire rubbing the reservoir?

I wonder if there is a tool/website out there that helps you select exhaust pipe size for different effects. I think people often oversize the exhaust without thinking about the consequences. If you have ever seen the exhaust on the newer X5s and such they look really small like 1.5 inches in diameter or something. Granted that is for a dual exhaust but still it makes you think twice about going from a stock 2.5" or whatever it is to a double 2.5" for a dual exhaust.

 

We ended up taking mine to NAPA to have them press it out. I had rented one of those things but I was worried about tearing it up lol

Haven't tested that yet. I'm hoping that since it pushed out the tire a bit at the top (and I assume to align it they'll have to bring the bottom out more) that it will balance out and hopefully clear now. I should be able to get an idea tomorrow to see how close it comes now. Won't know for sure until it's aligned. You can see in the pic how much it pushed it out.

Interesting, your hood has a fire blanket. Mine didnt come with one.

The older fire blankets sucked. They usually didn't stay in place very well and people pulled them out. I did.

 

Called a local carpet cleaner to come by and shampoo everything. Its all lemony fresh now. Amp mounting is done as well. I used M4 nutserts riveted to the cab floor, rubber grommets help elevate and isolate the amp from the floor.

 

Looks good buddy. That was the second set I ever built and they still look damn good
