Ha, no shit! Sorry we missed you. We were eating dinner around the corner at Rel-ish.

It would have been sweet to hook up with you. We had a helluva time finding a place to camp that night. One of the waitresses told us about a place up 31 called fletcher falls but we never found it.

We did do Whipsaw. Got rained on pretty good but it was still fun. Met some awesome locals under the shelter at Wells lake too. We crossed the border at Nighthak which is east of Osoyoos. From there headed NW to the Princeton area.

 

As I understand it, the bearing fails when the grease gets washed out of it by the diff oil. If true, it means the seal fails first.

Doesn't really matter tho does it? Both always have to be replaced when it happens.

I was in Cranbrook but left this afternoon. The truck is fixed. Currently in east glacier.

Amazing trip fellas!! Cant wait to do the trip report. Won't happen for months but i was trying to tell my parents all the amazing shit that went down in Canada and just couldn't fit it all. SO bad ass. Ben...you missed out man.

Home and unpacked. Its almost beer-thirty!

 

Nice guys, Ben that bumper looks great!. How did your clutch end up doing?

 

I have a couple of 8x8 sections of old railroad ties that I use with those 3-ton stands. They are in the OSK. Works pretty good to extend their useful lifting ability and are quite stable.

For the garage at home I picked up some Harbor Freight 6-ton stands that are much taller. Once in a while there are coupons for them. I think I paid $40 on sale.

 

I use some large timber too Mike, mostly just at home though, they dont come with in the OSK. I've been eyeing some 12 tons for home use. Because OVERKILL! haha

 

Time under jackstands has always been a requirement.

What really sucks is when the jack itself isn't tall enough anymore.

Floor-8x8-jackstand-truck

You can always use any type of wood board to put the jackstand on. Never put a board between a jackstand and truck. Not stable.

Now a board inbetween a jack to lift the truck is fine to use as its temporary. Still can be a bit sketchy.



And Dude. Really. Just rent. Don't shackle yourself to a house. In two or three years you'll want to move on to a better job.
