60+ year old thread.

I am here alive and kickin. Just got finished spending two weekends hauling special needs kids into and out of camp for special needs kids out of Greyeagle, California did the Lassen Applegate Trail last year and heading to Ocotillo Wells for off road rally in a couple of months

 

My mower is 20 years old, I mowed Monday, and it has to be done again. My grass grew like crazy after the rain. Don't even talk to me about weeds - banner year for them.

Quoting 4 year old river rat post gets my attention. I'm guessing that you're new here- welcome! Pull up a chair, cooler's over there.

 

If it bothered u that much you should have powder coated it.... HEHEHEHEE

Evening all:
Mike: I have painted that same radiator quite a few times over the yrs., and never had paint not adhere properly to it. I had it cleaned and repaired when I pulled the motor, and for some reason the paint I used to paint it was just lifting off.
See what happens this time, stripped it, scrubbed it with hot soapy water, scuffed it, wiped it down with acetone, and used hi temp paint.
At least it looks good for now!

I have LOTS of crab grass and some other weed - pretty much just the two that have taken over the back yard. Like you said, it's green...

Any of you guys know anything about weedeaters?? Mine won't stay running unless the choke is on changed the plug and that didn't help. could a not correct mixture of fuel be the issue? or bad/old gas?

 

Good evening all. I am not dead just been on a super nice vacation in Michigan and busy catching up on projects around the home. Taking breaks when doing projects slows me down a lot but not aggravating the back is worth the extra time. Been doing a lot of work in the garage before vacation and now that I am back home.

 

I repair them sometimes. Carb gets a little dirty in the fuel orfices. Not much to do except clean the carb or drill out the adj plugs and adj the carb. We have lot of issues up here with ethonal additive for small engines so I see this a lot. Almost throwaway units unless you want to dive into it and replace the carb
My next door neighbor has three in the corner because they won't run anymore.
If mine break down I know where to get one CHEAP!!!!!

My garage projects start after Labor Day. Trying to fish when I can.....
To be honest I screwed off on a lot of projects except for the emergency stuff.
I was trying to live the summer a little more selfishly. Past 2 summers I went fishing like 3 times each year. This year it's over a dozen. Still going.

 

Guess I"m going to have to start running the thing out of fuel each time I use it... seems to work with the lawn mower.... Heads to the 'net to look for articles on cleaning weed eater carb.....

for getting more fun in!!!

 

No need to lurk... they let some of us non 60's hang around... as long as we don't cause too much trouble

 

Use stable or similar in the fuel. Helps with the varnish. They make a product called " tune up in a can ". I got mine at Home Depot. It's strong stuff. Cleaned the varnish right out of my spare snow blower. Had to clean the carb out after 2 hours as it quit. Had all the varnish loose. Carb cleaner and a air hose and a hour later it runs like new. Either way, it's going to need work. Make sure the air filter is clean so,it can draw air...

Now that is funny.......The "knowledge of 50ish" would scare the hell outta of us at 30

Then again,staying with the same woman for 40 + would dismantle some of these young'ns to MUSH
