A "tinny" door sound? Well that does it for me, I'll never consider this piece of crap when I decide to replace my 09

This may have been said by someone else.

However I just feel disappointed by the new truck.
I think the mpgs are that good and the hp and torque are okay. I feel like Toyota neglects mpgs on its trucks its apperant in the current gen along with the current gen tundra. I'm not being unrealistic and expecting 30 on the city but still.
I'm also disappointed that to get almost all of the cool things you have to get premium packages.

For all the stuff that appears to be reused but retuned i can't justifiy the hike in price especially that these prices don't even include delivery.

I just think Toyota didn't do as good of a job as they could have.

The package are annoying to me as well.

I want a moonroof, but refuse to pay for blind sport monitoring and cross traffic alert, I find these unnecessary if you use mirrors/shoulder checks properly.

So we all didn't get exactly what we wanted. Boo hoo! Isn't that how car and life works? I couldn't find a 2Gen that had everything I wanted for cheap either.

For the record, I'd like a moonroof without the other crap too. Maybe they will change the packages or add disc breaks in the coming years.

I'd agree with that. They just took their existing truck and improved it across the board. It is better in every way but it leaves a lot of people feeling it's not better enough.

This is in part because they are so dominant. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. they don't have to make an all-new bold truck because they're not trying to knock the king off the throne.

it will be interesting to see how the market shakes out when the frontier and ridgeline come back. I'm guessing that nissan will position itself as a value option and will probably focus more on catering to the no-frills work truck crowd that's still left. I'm interested to see if they offer a bare bones diesel option. and honda is going to go directly after crossover crowd and make it really drive like a car. I think GM's market strategy is to make a slightly smaller full size. At least, that seems to be GMC's plan.

The other thing happening is the twins diesel. The fuel economy on that will be great, and it will tow like hell. I'm not sure how drivable it will be otherwise. I've personally never driven one of these 180hp diesel mills. Seems like it's going to be a dog on the highway.

I was going to make another point but now I forgot what it was.

Jeezus. Now Toyota screwed that up too. The ones I saw must have been the previous model.

It is pretty bad...at this rate the next redo, will have the grill going all the way down to bottom of the bumper...just make the whole front one giant chrome grill...

Older model was decent, not over the top...

Pretty sure it will be great on the highway...great off line launch, and be able to cruise at 1800-2000 rpm. If you have ever driven a VW TDi....they are great on the highway...fairly low horsepower. Very zippy around town too.

Really? And this event you described...did it happen recently, perhaps after the 2014 model year?

That is why the FJ Cruiser flopped, it did not have a solid front axle or removable top. I would have sold my soul to Lord Satan for a new FJ if it was a true competitor to the Wrangler. If they were really smart they would've also made it compatible with aftermarket Wrangler parts like high-clearance fenders and plate bumpers. Jeep sells over 100,000 Wranglers a year despite their shit-reliability, yet Toyota thinks no one wants a utilitarian convertible off-roader with live axles. Instead they birthed the FJ Cruiser, not enough of a hardcore off-roader to win Jeep customers but not fancy enough for people who buy an SUV for image alone. Also, the interior space and outward visibility sucked ass compared to a 4Runner. Rant over!

Be careful what you wish for. Torment in Hell for all eternity doesn't sound like a good tradeoff for your soul.

Complaining about tinny doors reminds of the movie Shallow Hal where Jason Alexander's character can't stand the hot girl who keeps hitting on him because she has weird toes.

Double cab trucks don't have this issue, but in 2012+ Access cabs the rear doors are notoriously loud and "tinny". Sit inside one and then close the front doors like normal you'll hear the rear panels rattle. There's even threads about it on this forum.

The 2016 Tacoma basically confirms my thoughts on the vehicle...Toyota has opted to let this model fade away as they focus on their other vehicles/markets.

The second generation Tacoma is great mid-size truck, as evident by it's record and resale value. As for the "third generation" Tacoma...it is an extension of the second generation truck, more marketing than any significant advancements. While other companies are proactively redesigning their trucks with future regulations/requirements in mind Toyota isn't even willing to part with drum brakes on the "new" Tacoma.

The writing is on the wall in my opinion...Toyota has no desire to remain competitive in the truck market. They're going to make as much money as they can off the Tacoma's outstanding reputation, with minimal investment, and pull the plug once sales bottom out. Maybe I'm wrong but everything I'm seeing seems to suggest that I'm right.

Whatever the case I'll enjoy my trusty Tacoma for years to come and figure out my next move once it is time to replace it. Chances are I'll be driving a Ford, especially if they decide to toss their hat into the mid-size truck market.

But an FJ with live axles, convertible top AND new car smell, does sound like a good tradeoff...

Insult to injury is the ridiculous prices they are asking. Just saw a guy on FB put a down payment on TRD Sport. He is going to pay $39,204.00 and it is not even a limited. I really hope GM and the other mid-size entries eat away at the Tacoma market so Toyota can try a little harder next time. TFL truck spied a VW Amarok being tested in Arizona. Hopefully they are planning an entry to the segment. http://www.tfltruck.com/2015/08/vw-amarok-pickup-trucks-caught-testing-in-arizona-spied/

    The better coast
We use to have an 2013/14 crv. Those doors sounded like tin cans when you closed and it was aweful. I hated it and glad we got rid of it for a 2015 :D

I can understand tin sounding doors being up there.......

Yes more and more I see this truck as being a gen 2.5. I might start a poll and maybe the mods will rename this forum to gen 2.5

I think a lot of guys on this forum, including me, were looking for a reason to sell their Gen 2 trucks in the hopes of something way better to upgrade to.

I do have Toyota to thank for saving me a shit load of money as I won't be upgrading anytime soon
