Your radio came with the 12v adapter? How much did it run you? And I am most definitely going to do this! Was it difficult to tune it, do you have to rverytime you put the antenna on?

Not 100% sure what you mean by 12v adaptor, but it comes with the cigarettelighter plug in..so I'm going to say yes? haha. very easy to tune, all you're tuning is the antenna though really (the firestik has a tip on it that you twist up or down depending on the signal on the meter). the radio was like 35$, the antenna wire was like 15$ and the firestik was whatever they run, I got the wiring and antenna at a truck stop and ordered the radio off of Amazon (some truck stop do offer the midland hand held though). YOU WILL NEED AN ADAPTER that will plug in between the radio and the antenna wire (the antenna wire does not have the proper connector that fits the radio). I think firestik offers the connector, its about 1.5" long, only a few bucks. but that's all you need. you can buy a meter if you want, but I would just use a friend or a radio shop if you have one around. No I do not need to retune the radio every time I use it. I tuned it once and its worked just great ever since.

haha yeah that 12v is the same as the cig lighter haha just doesn't heat anything up. So the radio will come with a plug for power and a plug to go to the wire? So nothing runs directly to the battery huh? Sounds like a great deal! Plus ill probably buy one of the cbi radio mount for the rear with a fold down attachment! Thanks a bunch

Yes to the power plug, no to the wire. If you were using the antenna that came with the radio, youd be all set, but since I ran the 18'+ antenna wire, I needed an adapter that would fit that particular radio to the wire. Search this in Amazon.com
