There's a trick that's been lost over the decades that's the key to making 1911s run. I used to shoot with an older guy named Lester that shot 1911s pretty much exclusively. His Wilson's and Ed Browns were his cheap ones and he had over 20. He was on a first name basis with Jeff Cooper while he was alive.

Lester was the only guy I've seen that could keep a 1911 running reliably match after match. When I was having issues with the Wilson he shared his secret with me. And it fucking worked.


FWIW Lesters only other handgun was a XD .45. He told me more than once if he was a younger man starting over he would shoot XDs exclusively and never have spent the money on 1911s

 

Not to sound like a dick but the bs on here is irritating me today. But if you likes glocks that's cool but I enjoy my 1911s so don't lecture me like your my father or eddy. Which is almost the same thing. But just realize it's an opinion and be open to others opinions.
