Tire Size/fitment Question

Hey guys. i have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner. im interested in buying some 09 Tacoma sport rims (17's), and im pretty sure the rims will fit..

My question is can i fit BFG KM 255/75/17s on the truck without anything rubbing?

If not, whats the max tire size i can run?

Those should fit fine. Maybe the tiniest of rubbing. Looking at those ones for sale in that thread?

 

i didnt know they came with 31's.. hrmmm..

but yeah im very interested in getting a set (and yes they are for sale in the WTS section, lol)

i cant see going from a 31, to a 32 a big deal.. just not 100% sure.. since its a Pre-Runner..

so just some info.. i did the Pinch Weld Mod, and im putting the 32's on this weekend..

BTW, i made a mistake, the current tire is a 265/75/r15, not a 265/65... so basically thats like an inch less than i thought.. i cant see these not fitting..

I guess everybody needs a lab rat.....lol

 

I'm really interested in knowing what you find out. From the research I've done, I think you might have to go with a 1.25 inch wheel spacer to make things work. The TRD sport rims are a half inch wider than the 1st gen alloys and all of that half inch plus a little more go towards the inside of the wheel.

I have 4 of these wheels stacked up in my garage that picked up last weekend and a set of spidertrax wheel spacers ordered from wheelers. My plan in to run 255/70/17 tires on my 95 tacoma to keep the same height as the stock wheels, but depending on what you find out, I might go with the 255/75/17 if they will work.

Keep me posted as I plan on getting tires in the next week or two.

 

yes, they are a half an inch wider, but keep in mind, the 255/75's are actually .4 inches thinner than the stock ones..

what did you mean by "plus a little more"?

and yes, i guess if things dont work out, i can use the wheel spacers, even though i dont want to.. lol

 

By plus a little more, I mean the backspacing is different between the two wheels.. The 1st gen alloys are more dished out than the TRD sport wheels, based on my crude calculations (I've not actually taken one of the stock wheels off to get an exact measurement) I think the TRD sport wheels will be close to 3/4 inch more inward when they are bolted up.

Let me know what you find out.
