@BlueT went to bed. Your shiticane is coming tomorrow.

It was fun being on the Colorado forums back when we were looking at one. Let's just say this, for a lot of people of these forums the grass is always greener on the other side.

The 2016 tacoma to me is just an improved gen 2. I'm curious to see if it really is better in the real world. As for the frame rust I would hope toyota would have found a better frame manufacturer. It isn't that hard to make metal less prone to rust.

I have a 14 double cab and I can relate to the "tinny" sounding door shutting, but that only applies to the back doors. Front ones are thankfully rock solid.

'08 double cab here, nearly 100k and all the doors still sound solid. The full sizes I have been in have a "heavier" door sound, and I would agree the Tacoma doors sound "lighter", but that's a non-issue to me as long as it doesnt sound like a clunker.

Toyota made them until 2014. I have one. A reg cab, 4x4 4cyl crank windows, push button door locks, auto. The only option was the sliding rear window and auto. I would have deleted the air cond if I could. I paid 23k with delivery. Will probably be my last truck. I can't fit a larger truck in my garage and I don't need power windows and door locks. I treated myself to an auto trans after years of driving a stick. I am getting old. I no longer matter to Toyota.

You and few are making me into some isolated case, even so Pickuptrucks posted exactly the same "problems" as I keep saying.
They had the problem with "Not work duty engine" I call it a minivan engine they wanted to be politically correct.
When it comes to drum brakes there should not be even discussion they do not belong on anything in 2016. If anybody says they think drums are OK or do their job on Tacoma, than He/She should have gotten a Minivan because obviously he is not using Truck as the truck.

I would think the same would have to happen in order to keep current customers and resale value for 2009+ Your gonna have a riot on your hands if they dont honor the same repairs for the same issue on the newer trucks later.

    Well lets think about this..
Toyota has to have a financial loss on 1995-2008 Tacoma Trucks at this point. Thats 13 years, I can't see them continuing that much longer.
Anybody who thinks Toyota will continue selling trucks for $30 000 than spend 6 years later almost $12 000 on repairing them is flat out crazy.
Dana Purchase was Done in March 2010. So 2009 and some 2010 trucks may still fall under the recall. but after that highly doubtful there will be any more recalls.
People won't riot, they will complain and on this very forum will be told by guys with new trucks that problem does not exists.. :D

I understand your points, just really shitty on a company to not stand by a product that has the same issue that they warrantied for other customers, they will loss customers over that if it comes to that and I will be one of them.

I work every day in a light truck. Good try though to twist the their opinion into yours. The reviewer is making the same comments people made about the Ecoboost 3.5 L when it came out. It's a technologically advanced motor, of course there will be reliability concerns until it proves itself.

You on the other hand rant and rave about how it's a minivan motor, even though the 1GR and 2GR basically share almost the same block, and point to it as a failure before anyone has even had a chance to work it hand over any period of time. Then you tell everyone how scientific you are. What a joke.

I dotn think Toyota cares.. They doing 2005-2008 because frames are still Dana and easly proven in court to have the same issue. Beyond that Not sure how would you get anything out of Toyota.

Seems pretty silly to speculate on Toyota not covering customers when that hasn't happened, but that's just me.

BlueT also thinks the GM Colorado and Canyon will have final price tags OTD around 30K (nothing about that math makes sense) and that the 2GR has 4 crankshaft beaings (it has 6). I'd take everything he speculates with a grain of salt.

I have suspected for a while that the soft-redesign was done so Toyota could honor frame recalls while producing same frames for 2016.

When did I said Final price is going to be $30K?
I wrote that, that was price given to >me< ... .. (see the difference) when I asked for it. I asked for bare bone truck with Diesel and all the possible discounts I could get.
You or anybody else is going have to negotiate their own price for Diesel Colorado..
I needed a price because I want to compare to Titan XD. . On the end until I can do inspection of both not going to buy either.

Understand, but people talk, only takes enough 2009+ owners to complain to their friends, mechanics noticing, etc for word to get out tacomas have bad frames and steer enough customers away, one would think toyota would try to avoid this, again all speculation.

I've also wondered if the changes in the steel made to the 2016 frame has more to do with corrosion resistance than weight savings, given the final weight of the Tacoma. Could be Dana/whoever was and has been using a bad steel for corrosion resistance. Who knows, like I keep saying it's all speculation. It's like goat turd bingo. If we all keep throwing out answers eventually the goat will shit on the right one.
