So far so good on the 3.5L EcoBoost engines, no major issues to speak of and I've followed the engine closely. People are pushing the limits of this engine with aftermarket parts and exceeding 600HP, on stock internals, with no problems.

I wish Toyota would develop something similar to the 2.3L and/or 2.7L EcoBoost engines, those would be an awesome fit for a mid-size truck. If Toyota did something like that I'd have more confidence that they're in the truck market for the long-haul. I'm sure the 2016 Tacoma will be a great mid-size truck but it is clear that Toyota is willingly falling behind the curve when it comes to a market they've historically dominated.

You clearly said your GM dealer told you 30K for a Diesel Colorado and you even went so far to say you could put money down on it to guarantee the price. The math doesn't work out. Even if you get fleet discounting that only takes about 3k off the price of a Colorado, and that doesn't count the taxes in. GM has clearly stated several times that the SLE and LT trims will be the lowest level the Diesel comes on. You will be lucky to get one for less that 35K OTD taxes and everything in.

After bitching about Toyota's problems why would you trust Nissan. The last Titan was hands down one of the worst trucks to ever hit the road. It couldn't keep itself together.

To me Toyota seems uninterested in investing serious R&D dollars into powerful engines for there truck and SUV lineup.

Agreed. Although we all love our trucks, lets be honest toyota sells far more camrys, corollas and highlanders than trucks.

Unless Toyota is in business of charity and giving away Tacoma trucks, they can not continue. Simply makes no financial sense to produce something that is constant loss.
Toyota profit margin is 4.1% (last number I had seen) so all it takes is around 12 000 trucks getting their frame replaced for any given year for Toyota to lose money on Tacoma that year. That does not include any other recalls.

You can't run company like this for very long time.

Yes that was price given to me ... Sorry I did not ask about price for you  :shakes head in disbelief:
It could be a gimmick or it could be right. I am going to find out if I decide to buy one.

Why would I trust Nissan? Why would I trust Toyota ? Especially After two of their trucks got frames rusted to shit (my 99 and my 07).
At this point I would buy other Toyota Trucks except Tacoma and Tundra. (Both trucks produced with origami crappy frame.

Don't get pissy because I call BS on your pricing. Dude, I work for a company where I can get a fleet price at any time. That's not by working with some dealership grunt who is just guessing prices on a truck they don't even have the order sheet for yet. My price is from GM corporate. Did you know most dealers won't even take corporate leasing or buying trucks anymore because the profit margin is to low? Guess I'm getting a shitty price though and you can negotiate GM into a loss .

On top of that, I still have to option to haggle out my own price. So when I'm buddies with the owner of the Ford dealer I only pull the corporate price quickly just to make sure I'm not being had. Usually the price either way is within dollars of each other. That's about as low as you can negotiate without a weapon in hand, and I wouldn't recommend trying that lol.

Truth is you'll buy anything with an oil burner but you grab at anything to justify your purchase. Nissan Titan is unanimously reviewed as the poorest pickup for reliability. Nothing about that truck was tough. People blew out the rear end going for a Sunday drive. Nissan has admitted the gas job from the last truck is going into this one and the transmission is the same for it too. The Diesel is getting a Cummins powerplant (hopefully reliable) and a new Nissan transmission that is untested. The rear end we don't have a lot of facts about, but if they go with the same shit it'll blow up too.

Honestly, I can't believe someone who rants about the tiniest little flaws on the Tacoma, like drums versus discs, can be so bum happy for a Titan. It's like saying you are going to try to eat shit because what goes into it is good... Sure Diesel has it's advantages, but the Titan is a way bigger risk than either the Tacoma or the Tundra. Actually the Tundra update and the Titan redo have a lot in common.

Very few people here cross-shopping for an HD Diesel and a Tacoma. Apples to oranges. Most of us want a reliable, fuel efficient smaller pickup and not a $58,000 full size truck. Kind of like saying the Toyota Avalon is vastly superior to a Ford Fiesta.

    Yup.

BlueT wants a full sized truck in a mini truck body....

Not that there is anything wrong with that , but there isn't a market option like that yet.

The new Titan will likely be slightly less capable than a true 3/4 ton but cost just as much. Some what like how the Colorado Diesel will cost as much as a full sized truck but be slightly less capable.

BTW I ran into an acquaintance of mine that sells GM trucks at the gas pump this morning. He was filling a new 2500HD Denali Diesel from the Diesel pump. I asked him what one of those is worth on paper now. Turns out it's about $82K CAD . WTF? Someone pays that for that truck? I know most people negotiate about 10-15K off the price of a Denali Diesel but even $72K for that truck is fucked.

There are some Gen 1 Titans on the Nissan lot in my town and they want $46k for them. Decade old design with 17 mpg highway lol.

I think you just upset because I went and ask for price on Colorado instead of listening to your (its going to cost you $40 k):D

Well Titan XD does not come with rear drums so I can not complain about it, it does not come with minivan engine either so can't complain about that. Interior design of Titan XD to Tacoma is like comparing McLaren to Yugo
Rear diff on diesel is known you should check and its not the same.
All I need is some test drives... :D

Same here but when you look closer they offer insane rebates. With those I can purchase a loaded pro 4x titan for slightly less than a loaded 2015 Tacoma

Meh I hate GM, the only reason I am even interested in their product is because of that diesel.

Edmunds too rates the Dodge as a consumer best. All the guys at work that bought into Ram are having problems or premature wear 2-3 years in. Its like hooking up with hot girl with herpes, she looks good, gets you to seal the deal and then later down the road your f-d.

 35K USD used to equal about 40K CAD. Anytime I mentioned 40K I made sure to clarify that's the minimum price in CAD you'd have to pay to go Diesel. Too bad you don't have a real job with some real power where you could get a real price instead of a guess from a dumpy salesman. Just FYI, all of my pricing is based off of what GM has released, including the Diesel markup, but GM hasn't released the actual packages or pricing on the Diesels to the sheet last I checked. Hopefully they do soon and then we can see the real price.

All I've heard is measurements on the new rear end. Nothing on long term reliability. I also haven't heard of it being used in any other trucks.

The new Tacoma interior is pretty widely praised. Then again I do like the look of the Nissan interior on the XD but I want to see it in person. If that nice interior they keep showing off is the top end tier I wouldn't want to know the price on that truck.
