Very well. It's been bolted on for (3) years and gets used frequently. It's steel, so take care of the powder coat paint and you'll be fine. I used a can of Krylon on mine because of the complications of power-coating expanded steel mesh floor welded to bars but that was unique to my rack. You'll be fine with yours.

When installing, there is a steel band inside the weather strip you drill thru. You need to know about it and how to work around it. This is documented in the forum somewhere, and I provided lots of valuable feedback directly to BajaRack HQ about this years ago, so hopefully it's all spelled out in their instructions now.

Thanks Crom. Good info to know.
I got a set of leather hole punches for the occasion, but it is sounding like there is more than just plastic to go through, eh?
I will look around for the thread that discusses it before installing.
I am looking forward to adding this to the truck. Going to shift things around a bit up top.

    Thanks for the hints.

I'm curious? Did the expanded steel mesh add strength to your rack. I have the regular utility rack, and if I get on that rack anywhere other than above the mounts, the rack is flexing down to the roof. I'm not a heavy guy @ 180lbs

Okay, I think we're saying the same thing. Just need to figure out what route we want to pursue.

I do have another question (which you may not be able to answer) - do you know or can you suggest specific LED light bars that have compatible mounting with the baja rack? I'm guessing you don't, but if you had a few that you knew worked, you could offer package deals and/or suggest some cross-selling to those guys.

Steve, see if the mods can add this sale to the side bar. If you want. Just a suggestion.

Can't believe the thread has sat idle for a week. :( Still hoping to get an answer to the above, and have one more question - I think we'd like to do a local pick up, but are wondering if it would be a problem to install the rack in the parking lot instead of driving home with it in the bed and installing later. I don't recall how heavy it is, but it would be me and my wife lifting it into place.

Assuming we brought the right tools, can you think of an reasons that would not work?

Some people use a 40" LED bar to mount to BajaRack's LED bar mount.

We will allow local pick up but if you do that we have to charge 6% SC sales tax, your rack would need to be prepaid, and we would include it on our next restocking order around November. You can use our parking lot for install though if you bring all of your own tools.

Thanks and sorry it took so long to answer. I'll make sure these threads are checked closer.

Don't forget - this sale ends 8/23/15. We have to have payment by then to honor the sale price.

    Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply. I don't think it would make that much difference, but the support tubing is different on mine. There is deflection when I stand on it and I do try to stand with feet apart when loading, but it does hurt the rack one bit by standing in one spot either. I'm about 190lbs.

How much clearance with no load do you have between the center of the roof and the rack?

Here are a couple of pics you can look at pic1, pic2

Crap, I have been in the bed the past 3 days and missed the cutoff (thought was possibly west nile virus, now looking more like first flu of the season). If there's any chance I can still get this, I'm able to pre-pay today for the shipment in November.
