That area of Canada has given us some other specialized breeds also. Labs and Newfoundlands come to mind.
I like to tease my setter friends about coat maintenance when we come out of the field. But, as you say it doesn't matter to them. I think for most of us just messin' with the dogs is fun, no matter what the chore.

Yes it does, went like chit on Saturday. I wasn't expecting to have to go in so wasn't dressed for it and nervous as hell. The dog sensed it and to say I wasn't smooth would be an understatement. Later I watched a beautiful young lady and she lost a shoe in the ring but kept going and was smiling and laughing the whole time, she was having fun. I took that attitude on Sunday of just having fun and was better prepared but no one is going to call me anytime soon to be a professional handler LOL.

Brewtus at a year and a half (150 lbs) playing in a 34 degree mountain lake. I still can't believe how much he loves water.

My neighbors have a St B named Moose. He got loose one day and came over to visit my pack. I grabbed him by the collar and called the neighbor.
Lucky for me he IS a gentle giant because there would be no holding him if wanted to go in some direction.

Nice. I can't get my bloodhound in 3" of water in a kiddy pool.
We had her boarded for the weekend while we were out of town and they charged us double for the "bath fee" since it took two people to hold her in the tub.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
We have a thunder shirt that we bought for our boxer and is too big for our Fern. I'll check with the wife but I don't see why you can't have it if you think it can help. He was 65 lbs, and Chance looks close to that. You will have to get the instructions from the net though. It is barely used, so like new. They have to wear it in low stress to associate the "compression" with calm, or something along those lines. I always thought our boxer was more calm with any kind of sweater on. I also believe in high value rewards. Maybe both and you can make it more comfortable for Chance during T-storms. Let me know.

Yeah if he really wants something he will get it, but he's really good with verbal commands and is getting better at paying attention to me. Now if I could just get him to get into the bed of the truck.....

Thanks! I really appreciate that, but Chance only weighs about 50lbs, though, so it might be too big for him as well.

I can check the size and get back to you. Then you can check their site and see. I'm thinking at 50lbs it would be. If I remember correctly, we ordered up due to his large chest.

Yeah sorry, it is an XL which goes from 65-110lbs. From their site, looks like you'd want a large.

I was just outside with my four and a half month old lab and he went on point. He was rock solid too until I called him to me.

I've heard of labs that point, but first time I've seen it.

    Some really cool shit
Folks are breeding a line of labs that point. Maybe your dogs got some point training in there somewhere. But, as rattletrap showed, all dogs will point at something. My Chesapeake is usually pointing to an empty food dish.

My young male points the Milkbone box. In most dogs the point is the preparation for the pounce. the breeding and training is to prolong that preparation and control it.

Makes sense, in that picture, he is pointing at a squirrel but that's all that he really points at. I've always thought he has some kind of hunting dog in him, may coon hound/pointer
