    Hi all,
While I was washing the roof of my brand new Tacoma I noticed a small imperfection in the paint. It looks like a piece of dirt is under the clear coat causing a small bump in the paint. I have notified the dealer and they have agreed to fix the problem. My question to the group is should a new truck be painted? Anything to worry about? What should I look for?...etc. Any and all comments and thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Unless the spot is bad noticeable the new paint not matching could look worse than the spot ever did.. I had a really small nick on my truck and asked my local guy to fix it and he said if he did the odds of the paint not matching well were high and it would be more noticeable than the nick..

Normally after market painting isn't as good as factory. If it is a small blemish I would leave it alone (since it is noted with the dealer) if it causes issues down the road like peeling or such I would get it fixed. If it is just a bit of dirt in the clear coat and on the roof, I'd definitely leave it alone for now.

You will notice small knicks and scratches in your paint just materialize overtime you wash your car. I wouldn't worry about it, just lift your truck so no once can see the roof anymore :p

Also one of my car dealer friends has a little paint checker and before he will buy a car he checks to see if the paint codes are different so he can figure out if the cars been in a accident or repainted ect, probably not a problem for the roof but

I would recommend that you buy a nice sticker and place it over the affected area. Congrats on the new truck btw.

FYI your Black 202 doesn't have a clear coat. If it's not through to the metal I'd just leave it or add a small dab of touch up paint.

I thought Super White was the only paint that was single stage?

I work at the Subaru/Toyota plant here in Lafayette,IN. Without going into all the details (would take forever) that dirt "seed" was probably in Toyotas standard, especially on the roof. I would leave it alone.

When I was qc at honda I saw more than I can count of touch ups and blemish removing. It's a very good chance a good many trucks on here were bought the same way. And no they don't let customers know.

It'll probably be fine but I'd get it in writing it was repaired and keep records.

Nope, the black and flat reds (non metallics) are all clear free as well.
