My AC on my 2014 went warm this week. Went warm a few weeks ago and they filled the freon and put dye in the system. Took it to the dealership and its a leak in the AC line next to the battery holder. Quoted me 342.00 to fix the problem. Isn't covered under warranty because my truck has 52k. I'm disappointed that this would have such a issue so soon in the trucks life. So I called toyota to make a claim to see if they will take care of the issue for me. I could understand something like this happening with higher mileage or older age. I could even understand damage if the line wasn't so protected. I'm a pretty reasonable person and a loyal toyota customer. I sure hope they will take care of this. What do tall think my chances are?

Best case scenario they will cover half the cost if you emphasize most of your 36 month warranty still remains.

Worked for me on a GMC truck in reverse; still had a lot of my 100,000 power train warranty even though my 5 years had expired.

Worth a shot, just appeal to Toyota Corp. and see what happens. Mention customer relations issue if they balk.

fuck that...... not even a 2 year old truck.... AC system is hooked to the motor... power train warranty in my book. squeaky wheel gets the grease, be a dick bitch n moan and they will cover it.... unfortunately the dealers will not give you anything by being nice.

Yeah that's how I explained it to them. I have purchased three new Toyotas and had them all services at Toyota dealerships. I figured they should help me out in this scenario.

Slim to none, and Slim just left town. Sorry about your truck's AC, Tacoma675. Toyota could try to say it was damaged while off roading or because of some mod, real or imagined. What they will most likely say is that your truck is out of warranty. Maybe there's a writeup covering how to repair it yourself and save a bundle. I just don't know. I do wish you good luck.

Serious? In that case everything is directly or indirectly connected to the power train.

Stuff happens if they don't cover it for you just suck it up and fix it.

No vehicle is perfect, no matter how much Koolaid you drink.

No not everything is hooked to the powertrain, But that ac line is directly linked to the compressor which is powered directly by the motor. If the truck had been outside the 3 year window, yeah, sorry man. But less than 2 years old and the only reason hes not getting coverage is due to miles... wtf.

And the Tail light is directly bolted to the body which is bolted to the frame which the engine mounts are bolted to so the tail light should also be covered by the power train warranty.

We could play this game all day long. Not to point fingers but your logic is deeply flawed.

If we keep on we can tie it to Kevin Bacon and blame it on him. :)

It's possible the a/c is not covered, but many systems are up to 60K and you are under the 3 year mark. If you don't have the hardcopy warranty guide, go to Toyota.com

Click on -> owners -> resources -> manuals & warranty

    You'll have to register(free) and setup username/pswd/etc

Pull up the warranty guide for your vehicle(yr/model) and go thru it with a fine tooth comb.

I would not accept their word that it's not covered w/o knowing for sure myself.

If it isn't - like said above - suck it up and move on.

    52K on a 2014...wow!

I'm in outside sales so I'm driving all day from one place to another. The biggest thing that bothers me about the issue is that the Ac line is pretty protected it looks like a component failure between the rubber and the metal connection. Its in a area where road debris and other damage would be very difficult to happen. Component failures happen I just want Toyota to recognize that this is something outside the norm and help me out.I will take a picture of it later.

I upgraded to battery to run more accessories. I installed it myself and didn't hit anything in the process. Plus this install was don't awhile ago and this leak is new and fast.
