Where did you get those lights for the bed bar?

What kind of mesh are you and Derek using for the Satoshis? I wish I had the balls to do this mod already.

im just using some cheap square mesh frome home depot but derek is using a grillecraft im excited!

 

I gotem from Harbor Freight tools, only $12 for the PAir!!! WhatThePho? is running them to and I think his are holding up great.

 

Im going to use these. I want the white light.

 

Just out of curiosity, why the white? Color preference or performance?

 

Both. I would rather run white light then have that nasty amber look. Plus It seems to have more light output and makes things easier to see in the bed.

 

lol "nasty amber light". When your in daylight, though, isnt a yellow light easier to see than a white light? Think of turning on your headlights and trying to see them. Not arguing at all, just curious.

Your right about seeing the bed better, I tried turning them on last night when a few of my buddies were chillin on my tailgate at 2am and the amber lights did a good job, white light wouldve been better though.

 

Why do you need to see the light during the day?

 

Well I hit some dusty trails in the past where its tough to see how close you are to someone bc of the dust. Ive seen trucks with yellow dust lights and it really lets you see them despite all the crap in the air, and thats pretty much all you can see, is the yellow light. I was hoping for a similar application.


When talking night time though, I guess both our lights would work equally well.

 

Yea. I might even purchase some better ones. I just dont want to get too expensive.

 

Oh nice. Have you run into any snags yet? Is it as hard as it looks?

I think I might get these amber ones for my bed bar. I don't know what I would do with the middle tab though. I was thinking about mounting my Firestik CB antenna when I get one or maybe a white halogen light in the center.

 

Yea thats what he [buddy who made it] was mentioning, was putting my cb through the middle tab. I was gonna do it but I really like my CB location (tight against the driver-cab corner so the wires run straight down to the grounding location and into the cab respectively.

 

Steven, it's difficult, but it's not too bad. It's more tedious than anything.

 

How long did it take you, Derek?

 

Yeah, that's where I wanted to mount it originally. I was looking at Albert's (w8n4mud) build and saw his custom CB mount that he made that fits on the rail. Derek has the same one too. I want something like that, but can't find anything like it. How is yours mounted? Do you have the same one?

Oh ok cool. I want to do it, but I don't have another grill to work on so I was just thinking about doing it little by little. I just picked up a Grillcraft the other day for $60 from a user on CT. He's on here too. I also met G (InfidelTaco) last week who was nice enough to give me free mesh. I can't decide if I want to mount my Grillcraft flush or use it to do the Satoshi or just use the mesh for the Satoshi.

 

We worked for about 5 hours today and we are hopefully going to finish them tomorrow.



The Grillcraft takes a little more work but in the end I think it'll be worth it.
