Well ladies and gents here is the delima. Wife is pregnant and I own a 2012 access cab (free and clear). I have come across a 2015 dbl cab long bed sticker is $33512. Can a new born fit in the back of the truck or should I go ajead and upgrade to the 2015 without the wifes permission gor the extra space for the kid and two large dogs? Out the door I could get said truck for around 8-10k. What should I do???

FWIW, just bought my Tacoma last week and I was going to go with AC until we tried pitting car seat in the back. it became obvious real quick that it wasn't a family truck. wife said she wanted something bigger....... not the first time she's told me that... but she got her way this time.

This. I bought the double cab for the same reason. You will not be able to safely fit a rear facing car seat in an AC cab. Buy the car seat now and try fitting it, you will see the decision is made for you. Even if you could 'make it work' it is only time before you outgrow the truck.

Can't go wrong with the double cab. However, regardless how much you are making, still suggest letting her know before bringing your new toy home. It's all about respect :)

I don't have a family currently but I chose DC over AC. AC does "look better" I agree, but DC is so much more practical.

The DC is adequate for a car seat but for me (I'm a little tall) it is bordering on too small.

I can't fit a car seat behind my drivers seat, which severely limits functionality when our second child is in the world. Either the first born is old enough for a booster (unlikely) when the newborn is in a car seat, or we don't take my truck anywhere until it's a full size.

rear facing seat will not fit in an ac. also when the child grows and is sitting in a front facing seat it will also be tight as hell and abusive for the adult there sitting behind.

I've found a few discussion about this recently, because we just has our first kid, but I had an 01 Xtra cab, which has even less room than a 12. I think.

I swear one guy on here said he did it in an Access cab, and now he has two older kids in booster seats, and they go on all kinds of trips. Frankly, Not sure that would work for me.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/another-child-infant-car-seat-thread.375514/

Here is my 15 DC which a Chicco Keyfit 30 rear-facing infant seat, no prob. This is one of the smallest and lightest seats I could find. The front pass seat is positioned as far back as possible while allowing access to the infant seat release latch.

In the end, the kids are going to grow up, get bigger, have more stuff, need more room.

Is your AC a manual? Because DCLB means going automatic. Just so you know.

One can never have too many light bars.
Do It! You actually have real justification to buy a new truck. Not just an excuse!

DCLB will be an auto as mentioned, but you can get the DBSB in a manual.

Probably because there is no supercharger option.

Without car seats a DC is fine, but it isn't a large cab by any means and it fills up quick.

Like my tiny little short bed. :(
