Just had my first expiriance with Desert Rat, needless to say I was not impressed. Simply went to inquire about tire pricing and during the conversation they insisted that I would need aftermarket UCA's to align my spindles. I told them that I would be doing UAC's eventually but I know they're "not required" as I've researched the hell out of this topic. Next I was told that my SCS wheels with 4.3 backspacing would not work as I needed 4.75 or more! :facepalm:They even tried to show me on the Maxtrac website until I finally made them understand backspacing.

Never heard of Desert Rat but that backspacing comment kills me

They are a local chain in AZ and NM I believe. Just caught me off guard that I was explaining these things to the guys that sell and install these products all day.

My dad went into a tire shop and had to teach the manager how metric sizes work. He tried saying the first number was the height

Ok guys I guess I will be buying new rear shocks sooner than I was hoping. I ordered these shock thread extenders so that I could keep the truck on the road with the 3" blocks while I wait on buying alcans and custom length Icons. However said shock thread extenders don't fit 5100's as they were advertised to. So I did find Some skyjacker shocks for 7-8" of lift for $45 a peice. But will I just hate the ride quality going from 5100's to the sky jacker shocks. Should I just be patient and live with the 2.5" of bro lean for a while?

Most likely, maxtracs and a regular 3" lift puts ya at around 7"-ish then bigger tires could bump you higher an inch or so. Me alone getting my 35s gave me another 1.5" of lift.

Yea tires will lift you like crazy. When i had 33s and parked next to Chris on his 35s (NFS), we had the exact same glass and suspension and preload and everything and his truck was totally taller than me, it took me a few minutes of trying to figure out why before it dawned on me that his 35" mud terrains were way taller than my half bald 33" all terrains lol

I have 3.75" of lift on the springs, 4@ from the spindles, and an inch from the tires

It's easier to round up to 8 than to say I have 7.75" of lift will 1" taller tires.

Just ordered some pro comp MX-6 rear shocks. Carrier bearing and a rear u joint took a dump today so I need to go ahead and finish lifting it to measure for a custom one peice drive shaft.

Yeah, mine is 27 front 28 rear. I'm right at around the same as Spruce about 6.25" (not including the tires). The Icons were supposed to come set at about 2" but It could easily be 2.25" or 2.5".
    Trucks looking good Taco Nation.
