It's a 2012 ARE with tool box on passenger side only. Security and privacy were selling points. It's for function, not form.....don't want the bears looking at my picnic basket

Did you wire yours up personally or have the installer do it when it was installed? I bartered for mine last week and the dealer set it on the truck and tightened it all down, but didnt wire anything up... trying to figure out how to get the lights and locks to function

Dealer wired my 3rd brake light and led interior lights, but wouldn't wire the keyless entry for me.

I installed a pop and lock at the same time and used the same wiring instructions for that to do my keyless entry for the shell. Actually I just ran one wire to the passenger side unlock for both the pop n lock and the shell lock. It seemed pointless to me to have a locked camper shell without a locking tailgate. Here is the thread I followed for the wiring of these:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/index.php?threads/348117/

On my interior shell lights the dealer ran a wire with inline fuse straight to the battery. Just ran it up and zip ties to the frame in black plastic wire loom. There is a switch inside the back top of my shell that I can turn the lights on all the time, off all the time, or on when the camper door is up/open. It is wired into a switch activated by the right lift arm for that part.

For my 3rd brake light I think the dealer just tapped into my left tail light/brake light. I think they did drill a small hole on the left back part of my bed to run those wires in, and put a rubber grommet on it.

Is yours an ARE Z series? We appear to have the exact same camper setup. I have the Z series with keyless entry, Yakima rack, and a DCLB as well. Mine is silver though.

Congrats it looks great. I just got the same shell and options a couple of weeks ago. The extra head space is great when reaching in to grab things.

I'm getting a tacoma, and i want to get a shell for it, but I noticed there is no key hole in the tailgate. How do you lock everything up?

Unfortunately they don't come with a lockable tailgate. You have to buy a locking handle. Try Amazon, they have quite a few to chose from (automatic lock or manual). Good luck

I was lucky, it came pre-installed.

Yep!! I got mine on trade last week for an AR I had laying around the house I didn't shoot + a little bit of ammo.. Came across it on Craigslist and the gentleman accepted a trade. Got lucky.

My free wildernest canopy from the inlaws...They wanted to take it to the dump. It was in flawless condition besides the paint. I just painted it with rustoleum bedliner spray. Bam good as new ;)

Thanks. I've changed shoes since the pic. I have the Discoverer S/T Maxx in 255/80/17. I kinda miss the stance of the 285/70/17. But the Coopers are beefy and super quiet.
