Was at work today (summer job at best by here in Goleta) and someone hit my front bumper in the morning. They left no note, just a giant ass black mark and broke some of the bumper clips. I worked on it this afternoon and was able to get 97% of the black paint off, fix a headlight tab that had been bent to hell, and realign most of the stuff. The only thing that is different now is the bumper has probably about an extra millimeter in the gap with the fender.

What just pisses me off is the person bailed with no note or apology. Shit happens, I get that, and I would have been upset even if someone had left a note, but at least it would have been handled. I think its incredibly cowardly and selfish to leave after something like that.

And no, no cameras on the side of the building where I was parked so no chance in trying to figure out who it was.

Before with the bumper protruding, grill popping out, light pointed downward a little bit, and big black mark.

After I took the scratch remover to it.

Didn't get any pictures of the light and bumper realigned because it got dark but its mostly back together.

Last guy to hit and run me did it right in the alley behind my garage where myself, my brother and uncle and cousin were all dropping a new engine in my brothers Subaru. Dude just peeled out and was gone. Right in front of us. Ha that's why I like owning older things. Another dent in the pickup is far less stressful than one in my brand new car...

    People suck..

I have had countless dings/dents/scratches in my vehicles from parking lots but none that bad.
    Sorry man

someone kicked the side of my bed in right on top of the TRD logo. Guess they don't like TRD. Luckily I got paintless dent removal and insurance paid most of the cost.

    The better coast
    Time to cage it, op.

But seriously that stinks sorry. Give it some time and look at it as your truck now has character. It will be easier to look at.

I would love to cage it :D

But its ok, just mostly frustrating someone bailed. And the truck is no where near ding or dent free and has 130,xxx miles of character. Nice part is that the scratches and little bit of black paint that is still there blends in with all the other chips and dings from just general truckness. I'm just glad I was able to fix the light tab by heating and remolding it and straightening everything up so the truck doesn't look like it had a stroke.

I've already been getting on him about plate bumpers. We will see if he's learned his lesson...

Had a girl clip my car once in a parking garage with me standing a few yards away. She stopped took a look at the busted tail light and scratch, saw me and jump back in her car and sped away. Only to find that she went the wrong way in the garage and was making a second loop past me. Tossed it in reverse and ran into a pillar. She was drunk and the cops were already on the way. She had no insurence because her parents were giving her the money and she stopped giving it to the insurence company.

Her daddy bought me a new tail light becuase he felt bad for me.

Not justifying here, since running from it is a cowardly move no matter how you look at it, but when you have these criminal insurance companies that are supported by government mandate, its really easy to see the situation from the point of view of whoever did the hit and run. Stick around and you never know what is going to happen, definitely get your rates jacked, and potentially get your insurance (and therefore ability to drive) cancelled. At least if you could be sure that the other person involved (victim) will handle it like a decent human being and wash their hands of it for cost of repair + rental, then it wouldn't be nearly so scary to leave a note or wait for them to come back.

For that small of a hit, you could easily cover it with cash and leave insurance out of it.

a couple of years ago wife was driving a group of girls to the bar in a friends car. she backed up while parking, and smoked a f150. I put my business card under the wiper with my number on it. 30 minutes later, I get a call from the cops. the cop and the guy that owned the car were so grateful that we left a number. ended up being 1500 dollars for a new rear quarter panel. I paid cash... sucks but better than insurance.

I was telling Micah earlier but I backed into a BMW this summer. My plate bumper did 2000 dollars of damage with the lightest little 0.5 mph tap.

Left a note, had to pay cash to avoid insurance increase and points.

The guy was so happy I left a note that he didn't ask for payment for the rental car he got while he was getting his fixed. He might have also felt bad that I was just a kid but I tried to pay and he was set.

I always park far away and yet it never fails that some jackass still parks right next to me. Last Summer I parked in a totally empty parking lot and went for a jog and when I returned someone was parked 6" from my car, there were literally more than 100 Empty parking spaces in that lot.
