Wasn't paying attention and accidentally poured 6 quarts of Mobile 1 5w30 into my V6.... yeah I know bone head move.... Don't really want to have to drain and refill.... So will 6 quarts kill me or what?

Just get a graduated cylinder, or measuring cup and drain off what you over filled... It can be catastrophic.

I thought it held 6. That's what I always put in when I change mine.

I don't know how sensitive the 2nd gens are, but I have always put 6 in my 3.4 liter 1st gens.

    I'm usually closer to 5.5.

Just loosen the filter and let the oil drain from there. I don't think it would take more than two or three times to get it to the right level.

I've rounded up to the next full quart on every Toyota I've ever had, never an issue, lots and lots of miles on them.

    Don't sweat the small stuff.

I'd check the dipstick before doing anything. It's supposed to be about 5.5. .5 high might not be a biggie, but in principle too much oil can be a really big deal. Maybe keep an eye on your PCV for signs of oil.

Draining at the filter would be the easiest way, I like that. Just use some plastic tubing and a Solo cup. Voila!

I'm thinking 1/2 quart isn't a deal breaker either way low or high. Any more than that I would be concerned...

Do the filter and call it good if you are worried about it...

Being anal maybe, but if the book say x.5 qts. then that's what I do and I have the luxury of setting aside whatever time is necessary when I work on my car.

It's likely not the end of the world because any shop that does oil changes is either going to under fill 1/2 a qt. or overfill 1/2 a qt. None are going to take the time to measure 16 oz.

    This.

5.5 will take level to top mark on stick, 1/2 quart more is ~1/4" higher on the stick. no issue. plenty of room for that, you'll slosh just as much driving the truck

I use an old 20 oz soda bottle without tubing. Fits right under the drain spout perfectly and holds itself in place.

This works if the bottle is good and sturdy. I once tried using a Walmart water bottle(their cheapest 24 bottles per case) and that ended up being a mess. Reverted to the 5/16" tubing.

I use a large 2 litre soft drink bottle. Cut off the bottom with a knife and leave the cap on. The bottle will sit under the filter housing upside down without having to attach strings or anything else. After catching oil just carefully remove bottle and add it to the container you used to catch oil from oil pan. Easy and you can wipe it out and reuse it next oil change. Old soda bottles can be used for funnels using this same method.

yeah if you had said you only put 5 quarts in thats perfectly fine (thats what i run and the dipstick shows JUST below the full mark) but too much oil even by half a quart can create excess case pressure and thats no bueno.
