the blacklight is under the floor board. when looking at the briefcase from far away click on the floor in your right hand corner. use the gold brick and the knife.

For me...it was in the middle of the wall above the case (room view).

Whoever designed this thing...was pretty damn good.

Thanks for the tip!! I needed it!

Obviously, I'm out... but I'm curious...

That piece of paper with a hand pressing a button and a dial with 10" on it...
What did that have to do with anything and what did it mean?

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
That was telling you how to open the right hand panel, the one that requires you to hold the button for 10 seconds.

well i lost more like 24 but i didnt count all the time i laid in bed trying to sleep but unable to because i HAD to get out of that room. or the time i was watching TV but couldn't enjoy it cause i kept wondering why my black light wouldn't work. i'd say about 3 hours of actual gameplay though. i would still be playing if i didn't get hints on here

Okay, so assembling them according to the map produces a3, b4, c3, and b1. Your paper codes are b3, d2, c4, and a2. The checkerboard should look like this (x = off o=on)
    _ A B C D
    4 X O O X
    3 O O O X
    2 O X X O
    1 X O X X

Hope this isn't too confusing. There are two ways to select a tool. One is to click the picture in your inventory. When you do that the tool becomes attached to the mouse pointer and moves around as you move your mouse. This is the mode you need if you are going to do something WITH the item. The other way is to click the tool's circled i in the lower right corner of the icon. That brings up a larger picture of the item. To do something to the item, you need to have the larger picture up.

If you are trying to manipulate something on the item, for example pulling out a knife blade or manipulating the equalizer thing (do something to the item), you need to make sure nothing is connected to the mouse pointer. At first, I had problems because I would click the knife which made it a mouse pointer icon and then I'd click the knife's circled i which brought up the full picture of the knife. However, because I had the knife following the mouse (use the tool) it wouldn't allow me to do anything to the knife (do something to the tool). So I had to click the knife icon again to deselect the tool from the mouse pointer before I could manipulate the larger picture of the knife. Hope that makes sense.

In the case of the laser pointer, we want to do something to the item, so we need it's larger picture up. At the same time we need a battery connected to the mouse pointer because we are going to do something with the battery.

So for the laser pointer, click the laser pointer's circled i so it brings it up in a larger screen (do something to it). Then click the battery (not the circled i) so that it becomes the active tool and moves around with your mouse (do something with it). The touch the laser pointer with the battery and it should indicate a power level on the laser pointer. Repeat to add more batteries.

To open a knife tool, click the pocket knife's circled i to bring up the larger picture. Make sure no other tool is selected as the mouse pointer. if it is, click the item again to unselect it. Then click on the larger knife picture. Multiple clicks will bring out a different knife tool (e.g. blade, corkscrew, screwdriver).
