I ain't whining about anything... I hope that wasn't towards me.. :) anyway... Much love.... I don't hate... I just go to my roots... The way I was taught.. Find your own lines. Use the best tire pressure for the job.. Use a trusted spotter.never go alone.. And always get out and walk ahead so you know wether you can make it out alive or not...

I'm still convinced. If those demo Tacomas had OEM-spec tire pressure, then that's very impressive because I never saw them at least airing-down the tires first, which is a must if anyone attempts to traverse through sand with some success.

That's great, you do your thing.

Just keep in mind that, just because you won't use certain features due to it being gimmicky or useless, doesn't mean it's gimmicky or useless to other people.

Pretty sure people used to think 4wd was a gimmick too in rally, until Audi proved everyone wrong with the Sport Quattro, and then almost all of Audi's rally competitors hastily built their own 4wd rally cars trying to catch up.

Actually, 4wd is not really necessary in rally racing. It’s just that the sector time will be way slower than the time with 4wd, given the same driver/co-driver and same car other than the 2wd/4wd difference.

All this advance technology to move slowly over rocky terrain? Maybe I should just stick with a pre runner

Probably the only common issue with Crawl Control based on ATRAC is the accelerated wear on the brakes.

A 2nd gen OR would have backed off that sand hill with the locker engaged. It was downhill

Crawl control/multi-terrain is most impressive when trying to climb on inconsistent grip surfaces from my experience. Watching a 4Runner use it to get up a hill from a stop that most others needed to back down and take another run at in the winter was pretty cool.

I'd still like to see it, with and without locker.

Its the same thing with automatics. Every knuckle-dragging retard thinks he can control the transmission better than a computer that makes decisions on near perfect information at a rate about 10,000,000 times faster than him. When automatics came out...yeah, they were shit. But things change.

You always see this kind of blind nostalgia. But anywhere that it really matters and there's objective measures of success, they use automatic. There's a reason why top fuel dragsters don't even use a transmission, but a timed clutch system. And the class below uses automatics. Its better than a human. Everything is like this. Everyone complains that cars aren't built they used to be. Thank god. I get it, you miss being young, but let that blind you from the fact that things in general weren't better. Only you. You were young and you were better.
