That is the problem in my case. I live in Pembroke Pines, (close to Miami) everything here is highways so you have to drive 70 mph or above, that speed I think will take a hit on mpg on the manual transmission . That is the only drawback that i find on the manual and also the fact that does not have push start button :(

I hope the manual transmission is as nice to shift as Sweers said it would be. Sounds like the throws are going to be crisp and short, rather than rubbery and loose.

I drive a Civic Si currently and plan on making that my summer car. In the end I chose to buy an automatic. A truck is a truck and is way heavier and no where near as agile as a sports car. The shifting might feel better but it isn't a sports car and will never feel like one. That was my justification. I love the shifting in my car and I didn't want to be disappointed when it didn't feel the same.

I actually like the black flares, and prefer it to color matched. To each, his own.

And to people who don't like them, it really isn't that difficult to take them off and paint them. I am undecided on them. I always like the color matched flares but I will see how I like it while I drive the truck. They are also much easier to clean crap off of them with out having to worry about scratching the paint.

So you own one and know how easily they are removed and reinstalled or how well they will take paint, assuming the gray are plastic and rough like the 1st gens which would give an odd appearance painted. Just sayin.

Agree, it breaks up the too much matchy matchy and multiple lines on the new trucks. The gray lower valance on the front also makes the truck more appealing.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I'm trying to decide beween the MT and the AT but I am just going to wait until the dealers get them and drive both and see which one I like better. The only downsize of the MT is the keyless entry and push button start is not present

What im not crazy about is that mine will have a chrome rear bumper because i didnt opt for the back up assist/sonar (which is the only way to get the color matched bumper as far as i know). Ill either color match the bumper myself (my pops has a bodyshop so i do my own painting), or coat it with lineX.. ill wait until i have the truck to decide.

The color matched rear bumper is one area that i prefer the color match (as compared to fender flares).

The off road comes with color matched as well if you get the tech package with sonar, etc.

A color matched bumper does nothing to get you up a grade or through a bog. Only the OFF ROAD TRD has A-TRAC and a Locking differential. TheCelt has the right idea... paint or coat the chrome if you can't stand it.

Your missing the point, you can get the off road with a color keyed bumper with the upgraded tech/sonar package, lots of pics with color matched off roads.

No, I read that... I was answering the person (people) who chose a Sport TRD for the looks without realizing there are no traction advantages over the base Tacoma. Only an Off Road TRD has more factory provided traction systems. As you say, for even more goodies (Teck Pkg.) they can also get the painted bumper.

Crawl Control is the A-TRAC system with adjustable degrees of spin control based on surface condition.
