Wow, you don't even have a Tacoma. I guess they should make you a mod now :p.

When I talk with my 4Runner friends they all complain about the lack of a TRD S/C for the dual VVT version. Always something to bitch about right lol.

I am personally withholding judgment until I see the torque curve/dynos & road tests (0-60mph, etc)

since this seems to be an active tread, ill ask. I just lifted my front about 1.5-1.6" and put on 17x9 (-12mm offset, 4.75 bs) wheels with 265/17r17 wheels. They stick out a little. im wondering if anyone has a similar set up and able to successfully put on larger tires (285/70r17 or bigger) without having to trim or modify. any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks

All bolt ons + tuning solution. Capable of running high 13's.
My 8,600 rpm K20 civic is over 100K miles now and it still pull strong without any mechanical issue.
I know many people that supercharged/turbocharged theirs after 100K mile mark and never had a problem.

High revving doesn't equals to shorter life. Sorry.

All depends on how well designed the engine is and the maintenance given to it.

I have to rev the shit out of my 3.4 liter while towing my camper to get up hills. The 3.4 has been a pretty dang reliable engine.

A little off topic but why a cartridge filter? Is there some advantage or is this another EPA thing?

    Two reasons:

    A) It reduces the amount of waste produced by reusing the canister.
    B) It's a PITA and discourages people from doing their own oil changes.

I think you're spot-on. My long time GF's last 3 cars have all been VW's - 2 Jetta's and 1 Passat. All of them have been a huge pita to do oil changes. Impossible to not make an oil mess. I really enjoyed doing oil changes on my '13 Taco. Also enjoyed $5 filters too.

that is what I figured. Can you replace the whole thing with a one piece filter or have they designed it to take that option away?

I know that TRD says don't use the CAI with the SC, but you have one (not TRD). What did you have to do if anything to use it?

Thanks. I thought you may have had to make some adjustments or a new MAF.

Just for the record...the 2GR engine actually made it's debut in 2004 in the '05 Avalon. It then trickled it's way down to other Toyotas and "up" to other Lexus.

4.0, there's no replacement for displacement.
