Toyota Silicone question

I did the BHLM and I got alittle bit of the Toyota Silicone on the HL lense. Whats the best way to get it off?

 

i used wd-40 to clean mine when i did them.

 

Will that get it off the silicone? Its been on for about 2 days

 

it did for mine after i baked them back together. i would assume most household products would damage the lense. get a soft rag and use it with the wd-40. a nice long finger nail helped me out too.

 

I tried rubbing alcohol and the plastic-X stuff.

Ill try WD-40 today

If it's the gray caulk that seals the lens to the housing try heating it up again and wipe off as much as you can, then use cleaning solvents.

 

Isnt the light plastic? I would go easy on the solvents as it could etch the plastic. Try heating/scraping it off with a plastic squeegee first.

 

Yeah thats what it is... The gray silicone. It got on the gloves with out me knowing before it was too late..

Can I use a razor blade?

 

Do NOT use a razor blade on plastic. Just use Goo Gone and your finger nail. It's not silicone BTW.

Automotive butyl tape... Wasn't that your second choice all along

 

Nope not really

 

Its butyl tape. Just pick it off. Butyl tape stays. It doesnt cure or harden. It stays the same as it was when it was put on. Just pick it off with your finger nail.
