Thanks I was thinking it was upside down causing the strut to easily over extend.

Shocks / coils compress as you hit the speed bump and as the truck goes down the back side of the speed bump the shock / coil slam upward to their full extension...............,,,,

Depends how much lift you wanted to achieve.

I got 2.5" on 884s on my DCSB Prerunner 2.7 auto, just on 884X coils, no spacers!

I have the same clank over bumps with my 883s w/ old-version Nitrochargers in my DCSB... Tore the skids off multiple times and even wasted $50 on a sway-bar relocate trying to diagnose. I finally just got used to the sound.

hey OP, i ran a 2009 taco reg cab 4x4 with a heavy bumper and 884x's on nitrochargers with the trim packer and 1/4 top plate spacers up front, dakars out back.. mine also clunked all the time, rode like shit over speed bumps, rough streets and same thing you describe off road. i never bothered to remove the sway bar as that would like imo just gave more opportunity to hear that lovely clunky clank.

i then went to an f150 because when shopping for a new rig toyota tried selling me on the great resale value yet would give me $2000 less on trade in value than any other manufacturer, you know cause their shit smells like roses... anyway don't go f150 to try to resolve this issue. i ran cheap spacers with the stock front parts while waiting on aftermarket stuff to catch up to the lower mount change on the front suspension, it was terrible, bounced around in an out of control manner off road and had the occasional clunk also. pure garbage. when my fox 2.0 coilovers came in i was very very pleased. the ride was incredible, i never had clunking like the OME stuff up front, it was smoother, just a real step up.

after a tour through canada's nwt and yukon back country last year and a good amount of mellow wheeling i got rid of the 2014 ford for a 2015 jk, running fox shocks again because i was so happy with them. i suspect i will be back in a tacoma (2015 model) in a yr or so and have no doubt in my mind that i will put fox up front again. the extra $250 is very well spent.

see if you can find the extended length of the fox 2.0 front and have a look at their construction compared to the OME stuff i think you may find a few things you like.

Thank you I am headed in that direction for better front coilovers and possibly full leaf pack out back.

I would start with the coilovers then see if you need the rears...

Another some people could look at is the bushings in LCA's. I lifted the truck with 885's on 5100's and it started clanking a while after the lift. Thought the shock was extending too fast, and it may have been. Replaced the LCA's with new dorman's and the clank quieted way down to the point it isn't really even there, front end also feels much more solid. Probably should have replaced them at 50k instead of 100k, but it wasn't noticeable on stock suspension. That's one more thing I will be doing.

Kept the old LCA's and will be refurbishing them with new bushings and ball joints.

ETA: Should also say that yes the ride is stiffer than stock, but it's smoother when going faster on the same surfaces. Still need common sense on what you can hit and how fast you can go though. It isn't long or even a nice mid travel setup.

My truck does that exact same thing you just explained and I have nitro w/886 ,arb bumper, warn winch and skid plates . Even if I'm crawling where there is ruts or rocks I feel like it jumps a lot, like after every time it down travelels it rapidly fully extends making a thump noise .

will this thump/clunk noise affect or damage anything?

Think OME designed it that way. Just like their shocks for the rear max out well before the dakars. They do it so there is no chance of needing to extend brake lines and ABS sensor lines

No clunk as described, standard travel Icon 2.5s, regular 650 lb springs with stock UCAs. Bottoming was a bit of an issue, corrected with SuperBumps.

One of the reasons I got rid of my OME lift was way to rough and stiff.

    Worth every penny IMO

I got the softer compression valving option that is supposed to be a bit friendlier for daily driving, but still handles the dirt very well.

OME Suggests you only run their coils with their shocks because they are valved a certain way or something. Seems like the 5100s are maybe a better choice for some just for more downtravel. sounds like OME needs to make some longer shocks for their coils to fix this issue
