Tire rub on hard turn

Recently installed Bilstien 6112's at highest setting (2.5"), LR UCA's, 265/70/17 BFG KO2 on stock wheels. Yesterday When exiting freeway on on hard turn driver side tire rubbed I believe where my finger is pointing at. I've seen other posts where members are rubbing on UCA's. I'm considering putting 1/4" spacer on front with extra thread lug nuts. Anyone had this problem?

 

If you can find a set of spacers like a BORA or Spidertrax that has offset lugs you'd be just fine. I wouldn't recommend a straight thru hole spacer.

I have been running offset lug spacers for over 100k mi with zero issues, FWIW. I see a lot of talk about how bad it is without any discussion as to why. Try to avoid double shearing lugs with thru hole spacers, but offset lugs will load the lugs the same as a different wheel offset.

How are those 6112s? I get my set tomorrow! Any idea exactly how much lift you got on the 5th setting?

 

Only aftermarket struts I've ever had so cant compare to anything other than stock. Much better ride. I got the 2.5" as advertised.

 

Reason for the 1/4" spacer vs 1.25" spidertrax is because concern about rubbing occuring elsewhere if I go to far out, Mudflaps.

 

Assuming you match the offset to what would have otherwise been a spacer, both will add the same stress to the hub. At 1/4" either way, I wouldn't be concerned and would select the cheaper option.

Rust adhesion could be an issue with steel spacers, but shouldn't be an issue with an aluminum spacer like a BORA. Your wheel would be aluminum, or your spacer would be aluminum. Neither should give you problems.

My BORA spacers are 3/4", I also ran the 1.25" spidertrax with a different setup. It appears 3/4" is the smallest adapter that you can get... and I am also in the same boat in not recommending the thru-hole spacers from an engineering aspect, as that double shear loading isn't at all what the lugs are designed to encounter. I don't personally agree that wheel offset is safer than a similarly spaced adapter. Either option could solve your issue, but yes, the 1.25" spidertrax may be more than you'd want with your specific application.

Did you have to trim existing studs?

 

No. They are longer than stock though. I bought a pretty early run a few years ago and believe he revised them since, tho.
