lol. you are reading my mind. this is what I am going to do!

Also decided to get creative. Did not paint the spacers, but used shrink tubing instead. Came out pretty sweet. Cut a 1-1/4" piece of shrink tubing, slide the spacer in and blow torch (don't have a heat gun) them. Looks good, better seal with weather stripping and protects from corrosion

Rack looks awesome. That's a great idea with the shrink tubing. I'm going to steal it. ;)

Can't wait to install the rack on the shell. Unfortunately, my work day is going to be insane tomorrow. Hopefully will be able to get to it on Thursday.

moved the rack all the way back as far as i could. still touches the shark fin. I guess next step is to take it off completely and make the holes in weather stripping a little bigger. not sure it will help, but worth trying. Don't want the shark fin to fall off.

I just mounted the last cross bar in front of the fin instead of behind. Works just fine.

I am driving without the deflector right now, so the wind noise is pretty bad. Then is dawned on me.... My old BMW roof racks had t-slots but came with plastic t-slot cover that snaps into place when no t-slot accessories are used. It was actually recommended to have them on to reduce wind noise.

With 6 t-slots per HD bar, I am pretty sure it contributes to the noise. Has anyone tried using t-slot covers with these? I just ordered a few from Amazon to see of it changes anything

do a search for "80/20 T slot cover" Grainger carries them in their catalog, it may help cut down the wind noise

If you have the toprac as well this is the best solution. Those with just the cabrac want the bar behind to extend the platform. I am still trying to figure out this whole shark fin antenna thing. Early on the rack wasn't designed to fit it with the bar behind but after I re-did the design to remedy that. Every one I have installed has been fine but every once in awhile there is one that the bar won't fit in the spot.

Mine just barely fit. it's definitely touching, but I'm not too concerned about it.

Will be interested to hear results of the wind noise in covering the t-slots. I put some electrical tape over the top of my front bar, and didn't really think about the bottom and sides. Maybe next step. Don't think i'll be spending $6 a strip for all the bars. Bit cost prohibitive.

Have also heard that for Thule's, people wrap a bungee around the front bar and it makes a considerable difference as it brakes up the air flow. I just haven't found a bungee that is long enough (or isn't some ridiculous color).

Really wonder as well what a deflector that is installed in the bottom position but is wide enough to go to the top of the bar, as well as no side cutouts, would sound. Or installing the frontrunner wind deflector in behind...so many thoughts. I've grown to stop hating it, just accepting it. Still whistles on a crosswind

Pretty sure it will work every time if you move the last 2 mounting holes 1/4" back in the future production. Looks like there is plenty of space

If you haven't tried it, you should consider putting foam behind the wind deflector. It really does help with the noise & only costs a couple bucks. I may try taping/stuffing something in the bar slots as well...

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
Hell my truck whistles in a cross wind with no rack. Does this noise really bother people that much? Crank up the tunes and drown out the noise! I don't get it. My tires will put me to sleep on a long drive with their noise, maybe the whistling will keep me up!!

I see the links in the first post about mounting a 50" light bar on the rack, but I only see straight bars.

Can someone point me to someone or a specific post in this thread or others that has put a 50" curved on a Prinsu rack? That's the only issue I need to resolve before getting one!

    Thanks in advance!

It's a custom option. The rack is only 47" wide so to fit a 50" bar you need to redo the front of the rack a bit. Loco had it on his old tacoma. Check out that build

I think it varies from person to person and from truck to truck. I am pretty OCD about noises on my truck and the roof rack has never bothered me. I have noisy tires though, noisy kids, off-road bumpers and make the wind go all sorts of places and drive on noisy concrete freeways daily so maybe I just built a tolerance for it.

So what's the lead time on a double cab bare metal rack?
