Thought once if a guy could get a hole vent into the front of the area then run the port along the front, there's certainly some kind of potential there for at least a vented setup. That'd be like a boss for sure if the volume and driver choice matched up.

even a single 8 in a TL would work with a type of centre console build and using the front to rear length for the transmission line length. i have built a few and the freq response range is incredible

So since the mounting surface for the lid isn't flat(far from it actually) what are you guys doing to mount/seal the lid on there? I'm assuming you're not cutting it down to make it flat so you're either building up the lip of the "enclosure" or you're shimming the lid to form fit the hump?

I'm all in on this project. It looks too badass to not have in my truck. :headbang:

Hmmm. So with 3-3/4" mounting depth in most current shallow uber subs in 12" these days, might be able to seal in the entire cubby depending on how much cubby takes up .75cf and do something like this on one side for a 12 incher.

How are you guys treating the space? Fiberglass in it in or something else? Steven I'll have to read up your build log again.

Might need a USSC How-To pictorial.

    ^External port......hell yeah!

And to answer @Babs question, yes, fiberglass was used to treat the bin area. Not for strength, but rather to seal up the space.

I glassed my box too for air tightness. But i didnt use enough hardener and she is still sticky to the touch. Over a year later lol. A year of me throwing 300 rms watts over rated at it.

i have seen a few people that use poly that they use as a vapour barrier in their homes to assist in doing various projects like this
if you want the box to be permanently part of the box and sealed up they soaked a old bed sheet or fabric in resign and tossed/ played it into the compartment. Then put the poly over it and filled with small wood chips, or anything that takes up space then added wsome weights to the top of it to evenly distribute the weight to pack the resined cloth tight into all the spaces. Once dry they pulled the poly out along with all the material and left the fibreglassed template bonded to the metal.

For those that want to take it out, it just requires you to lay a sheet of poly first then the same type of project.
If your brave you can also use water but you'd first have to make sure there are no sharp corners lol

Holy hell those things are moving. What is powering them? I wanted a set of those, but I couldn't fit them in my box. They're quite a bit deeper than the p2 8's.

Go for a more spl oriented woofer if you feel it's not worthy.... Rockfords arnt bad for sq builds but for that raw low bass I go comp subs... Fi audio... Ascendant audio... Dd if you wanna spend a lot of money... http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/categories/amplifiers.html?sort=featured&page=1

Trust me, there is nothing wrong with the shok triton 8s. They won't have the low end extension the x8s have due to the specific design of those x8s but in the right box slams!
