So I called the dealership and they said they just replace them but that it would cost me over 900 dollars??? I don't think this guy understood what I was asking.

Surprised nobody else said anything, but those are two different headlights. The clear one is the new TSB light with the clear glass turn signal. The other light is the old style light with amber plastic over the turn signal.

The only problem I see with that is my truck has 173k now and it's an 07 literally right at the deadline mark.. I'm just going to have to go in I think and show them rather than talk over the phone.

    From the pdf

"The headlamp assembly is covered by Toyota’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever occurs first). However, Toyota is announcing a Warranty Enhancement Program to cover the replacement of the headlamp assemblies if the inner daytime running light/turn signal has become distorted or bubbled in appearance.
Primary Coverage offers the warranty enhancement until November 30, 2015, with no mileage limitation."

Got mine done last Friday. I just went in and showed the service tech my headlights, told them about the tsb and they replaced it free of charge no questions asked.

I just got off the phone and my local dealership had some replacements in stock and they are holding them for me, glad I read this today. One question though, they said that they have to be the ones to do the work because it is a warranty claim, I can't just take them and do it myself. Has anyone been able to sign a waiver of liability or whatever and just take them? I would prefer to do it myself as the TSB says it is a 2.5 hour job. Should really only take like 15 minutes.

I had to argue a little with the dealership that did mine. Luckily I brought a copy of the tsb with me. They tried to read the first part about being under warranty and said my truck had too many miles. I then showed them the other part that said unlimited mileage and all that and they finally said ok. Took them about 2 weeks to get my TRD sport headlights in stock but they knocked it out for me.

I would just let them do the work. If they break a tab or anything during the install they will be on the hook to make it right. If you DIY that could bite you on the off chance something goes wrong. With the little warranty we get on our trucks, I'll hold Toyota's feet to the fire and let them foot the time and material bill. Of course, my dealership is close so it's easy to drop off and get a ride. I know that's not the case with everyone.

Well my step father's '12 Prerunner's turn signal bulbs melted his headlights last year. Ending up buying whole new headlights.

    ------------------------------------------------------------
    a '12 had this issue ?

prove it. 12 has different assmblies and no one is having heat or melting issues with them

I have a '13 same as '12 and dtrls are on 100% of the time my ass is in the seat. 40,000 miles zero problems

    pics or it didn't happen

First time I took mine in, they were discolored but not melting yet. They wouldn't touch them. A year later, this Monday to be exact, I finally got them swapped after one started melting. Good timing too because I think you have until November of this year. As Oz posted, it's an extended warranty. Not to much a recall. I believe you have a certain amount of miles though.

    Unlimited mileage till November

I think somebody mentioned that previously from a pdf or something from a post in another thread that may or may not have been linked

I just don't really have the time during the week to wait around for them to do it. I was hoping to have it done on my lunch break today but they have no appointments until next week. I'd rather not have to take off work for this if I can help it. I actually need to do a transmission fluid service so I will hopefully have them do it at the same time if it works out.

That's a 05-10, the 11 has the honeycomb grill with a single bar through the center. But if his VIN is within the range and he has a receipt they should reimburse him the expense of the replacement lights.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
The warranty only covers the melting of DTRL, not turn signals. Your VIN has to fall within the range specified on the oficial doc from Toyota. And the warranty covers unlimited mileage, but it ends this November.

Took my truck in last week and got the darker lights for free. Stoked.
