Anyone running this setup?

One of the setups I am thinking about is billy 5100s up front set at 1.75" and a 2" non tsb aal in the rear (I am out of warranty for the tsb) Anyone have this exact setup? Was curious if the back would be too high. I will be running BFG ATs 265/70/16 on stock wheels with stock uca's if i go this route.

 

The back would be a little higher than the front but no more than an inch.

 

not sure if anyone exactly is running that setup. but you could probably go with the 1.5" aal because a 2" aal is gonna make the rear end stick up higher than it is now at stock. you will still have a little rake with the 1.5" aal but not as bad as stock. also, id get some 265/75/16 tires, they fill up the fender well nicely and do not rub at all. plus i think they are cheaper than our stock size tires

 

I thought the 1.5" aal was for tsb repaired springs and the 2" aal was for trucks that still have the 3 leafs. Is this not correct? X2 on the 265/75 tires...but need to wear the tread on these a little more 1st.

 

I've got the 1.5" AAL with the TSB leaf pack and the 5100s set at 1.75". The rake is great, similar to stock -just about 2" higher all around though.

 

I did the Toytec 2" non-TSB aal and Toytec adjustable kit for 5100's. The rear ended up 3" higher w/ the AAL. I have the front adjusted to a bit less than 2.5", so it has a bit more rake than stock, but not really noticeable. My truck had about 4000 miles when I did the lift, so the rear spring has little wear/sag. The AAL on a worn spring may give different results.

Personally, I bought a truck, and don't want it to look like a car. Supposed to have the rear higher. Level it, and put some weight in back and it looks like you have a worn-out truck, and the headlights point up.

 

Are you running stock uca's? Any vibes or alignment issues?

 

it doesnt matter, depends on if you want 1.5 or 2" of lift in the back.

 

you are kinda right, toytec advertises that the tsb aal is 1.5" and the non tsb if for 2" of lift. but you can get the 1.5" tsb aal if you do not have the tsb, you will only get 1.5" of lift. you mainly get the 2" aal for lifting your truck ~3". you can get a 1.5" aal or leaf pack from wheelersoffroad too. but if i were you id get the 1.5" aal, unless you want more rake than you have now

 

Sounds good. So if I get the 1.5" non tsb aal and set the 5100s to 1.75 I will have some rake (similar to stock) but still be able to run stock uca's without any alignment issues?

 

yes, if you go up to 2.5" on the bilsteins, you may or may not have alignment issues. most do not. if you go up to 3" i highly recommend aftermarket uca's. but for 1.75" you will be set just fine. im about to do that same setup soon

 

Looks like your on 33's. So your going down? Do you not like the 3" lift?

 

actually i just traded my 33's for some 32" nittos yesterday. i like the look of the lift, but not the ride and all that. then again i have a block and spacer lift so i can't say too much. honestly, i hate doing maintenance on things when its really not needed, and when you lift a truck 3" with a 4x4, you have to worry about busted cv boots and joints. and frankly im too busy with work to have time to do that every so many thousand miles.

i think 1.75" if a safe lift, you do not have any issues with alignment, rubbing, or harsh angles yet you still have a decent lift on your tacoma.

 

I have 3 leaf crap pack with Toytec 1.5 AAL for the crappy leafs & 5100s with TRD springs up front set at 2.5 and the back is 1.25" higher. The front wheel well arch is 38.25" off the ground thru the center of the wheel & the back is 39.50" measured the same way. Tires are 285/60/18s.

So I just got off the phone with toytec and they told me it didn't matter if I have had the tsb done or not. If I want the 1.5" aal then that is what I order...no need to specify tsb or non tsb. He gave me part #TACALTSB.

never ordered from toytec but if thats the part number he gave you id say he's right. so you are gonna get the 1.5" aal?

 

I think so, but T@co's kind of scaring me. In his last post he says hes running the 1.5" aal but has his billys set at 2.5" and the back is still higher than the front. I don't want to go all the way up to 2.5" so I hope the back isn't too high if I stay at 1.75. I don't mind a little rake, but nothing crazy.

 

every truck is going to be a little different but what you can do is get the billy's in the front and then see what you want to do with the back.
