Just trying to get everyone's thoughts on my trade in. I have an double cab '09 Prerunner with toytec coilovers and AAl in back with bilisteins. New 285/75/16 BFG AT with moto metal rims. 5500 miles.

Well I've decided a need a 4x4. If I leave everything on my current truck and go trade in for a '10 what you guys think I can get on trade in and what can i expect to pay for the '10?

    Any thoughts?

No way you will get even close to what you paid for all the mods. If you still have the stock parts swap it out and trade it back bone stock. Then put all those parts on the new truck.

    NEVER TRADE IN WITH MODS!

Some stealerships consider it a devalue'er but when the price it afterwords they will use it to jack the price up. Don't give them any leverage, plus why don't you try to sell the truck private party that way you won't be upside down on you trade.

I still have all the stock parts. The only problem is I just had shoulder surgery and i cant do anything for many months except drive.

I've decided I probably won't put any mods back on the new truck so not sure what to do.

Current truck is paid for so don't have to worry about being upside down.

Get a couple of buddies to put the parts back on for you and buy them some brewskies and pizza, help were you can and then go trade it in. It's only an AAL and coil over right? Shouldn't take two people more than a day to do everything.

Or wait till everything is better on your shoulder and then swap it out. I'm telling you, you will kick your self later for trading it in with the mods. It's not like you need the 4x4 right now since you had surgery you won't be doing any wheeling for a while.

You know that once you get in the non lifted truck your going to want to put new tires and lift on it so you should just keep everything, at least the wheels and tires...

Maybe some TW members can help you out in your area???

    back to bone stock.
sell it in a private sale. you are going to get hosed either way, but may as well minimize the bleeding.

you still owe on the 09?

I found when I traded in my 06 Prerunner a couple of months ago, I did pretty good on the trade for my 09 4x4. The dealer I was working with could only sell the Prius and had a hard time moving the Tacoma. I only had the 06 for three years and was amazed with what they offered me for the trade. With the tax benefit of trading it in, it wasn't worth the hassle of doing it private party.

That being said, I didn't have many mods on it, and what I did have I took off before I traded it in. While the price of the trade in value was high, it didnt change at all because of any mods so it was best for me to take them off. What I wasn't going to put on the new truck I sold here on TW.
