Did you need new shocks? Or could you have waited till you had enough for all of it?

I needed new shocks. I would hit a bump and the front would take it just fine, when it finally reaches the rear it would make a normal thump and a pretty hard thump.

I got one front 5100 installed, only took me 4hrs. Installed once, take apart, and reinstall. Other side tomorrow should go much easier. :violent:

I just put 5100's on and I don't have any lift. Well, I have about 3/4" in the front now.:notsure:

Ehh, give him a break. Were in hard times. I would have waited though until he could get the ones he wanted, If you dont want a lift just get regular Bilstein HDs.

Basically yea. And what your saying is I need to spend more money on better shocks so I have to wait even longer to get the lift kit even though I'm only using these for another 6 months to a year maybe less. Plus with my part time job only giving me 15-20 hours a week and all the gas I'm using to go to college almost everyday and someone that's living on a budget it's a better choice?

I'm only getting a 3" lift and in the future until my tires need to be replaced I'm putting MT 32's. And thanks for the support :D

I was in school working same hours. Took me months to save up for my toytec lift. Now im past all that and the more i save for coilovers the lower the cdn dollar gets(about 2/3 of a us dollar) ahaha. Im lookin at $1200 just for cheapest fox 2.0s and if im gona pay that kinda cash im gona atleast get the 2.5"s

But once cry once, if they stay good for you until you get better stuff then you'll be alright but I'd rather just save up and do it right the first time. Take it from someone who's been through spacer lifts, body lift, crappy shocks, and finally coilovers

Exactly got to live on a budget. Plus I have to pay for my own insurance every 6 months so that's another $400 out of my pocket. And I will put better shocks in the future this is just my budget lift for now :D

Until I can get out of college and have a good full time job I will put a better lift. This is just my lift and shock setup for right now. What shocks should I get anyways?

Why not get a better job? That's what I did and I'm making moves on my mod list

I know I'm not doing any body lift or spacer lifts. I'm going with coils and AAL. And after I get a good job I'm putting a better lift. But I'm still staying at 3" of lift because it's sometimes a race truck. What set up are you running right now?

Going to college. Don't think I can find a job that gives me some low hours every week. Especially with all the damn homework I have from my evil pre-cal teacher

Do what works best for you.

People have been flaming 5100's pretty hard lately. I have 'em all the way around....They work absolutely just fine for what I am doing with them. Are there "better" out there? Of COURSE!

Anyone who wants to dump $2,000 - $4,000 into their suspension on a truck that is worth only between $7,000 - $12,000 can absolutely go that route.

For people who will use that type of suspension and actually NEED the performance that it provides, it is available.

Build your truck, the best way you can afford, with ACTUAL INTENDED USE IN MIND.

Some of these guys really push their trucks. I don't. Some of these guys on here wheel 2 or 3 times a week or month! They have trucks that they basically live out of, so they need the suspension to be able to perform on pretty insane terrain, with a lot of gear.

Me personally, I get to do a little off roading a couple times a year. My frame was replaced, so I replaced the suspension, with better than stock 5100's. I also got a bit of a lift. I'm not thrashing or pushing the limits of my suspension in any way, shape or form.

I've had no issues with mine, but I would also assume if I wheeled it as often and hard as some guys get to, it wouldn't last long.

KEEP YOUR INTENDED USE IN MIND.
