I actually ordered a 2016

Yup seems right. The salesmen was extremely surprised that the tow package was an option now. Just another way to get more money...

 

My dad bought a 2014 4X2 Access cab 4 cylinder truck. I told him not to before he bought it. You might as well buy a car. We live in the snow belt with lake affect from the great lakes and get ridiculous amounts of snow every year. He was too worried about gas mileage and being able to tow a popup. I said again buy a car or crossover. When I told him I was getting 4X4 he said why it kills your gas mileage and its unnecessary. Anyways, I am just glad I am not the only one who thinks it is pointless to buy a truck unless it's 4X4. If you are buying a truck, you should not be concerned about gas mileage because everyone knows that just about any other type of vehicle will always get better mileage.

 

Holy balls that's expensive for an AC.

 

You can't get the premium audio upgrade without every other upgrade so the package is $3600. These midsize trucks have also skyrocketed in price the last few years. I could get a full size truck for the same price or less but it would be bare bones. I also just felt like it was too big to drive for my needs.

 

That's what they cost now. If you think that's pricey for an AC, I wouldn't get a DCLB. haha

 

I bought a Z71 4WD DoubleCab LT All star package for $35k last year after rebates, so you can get a nice equipped domestic for these prices. But agreed it was too big and I missed my yota.

 

I know, just disheartening, but great for our resale values! Congrats. I have a DCLB, 2015, paid $32.5k for her.

 

Exactly. Full size trucks start out cheap until you put anything on it. They suddenly get up to around $50k in a hurry.

 

Not true, my 2014 new Silverado had tow package, skid plates, larger battery option, tinted windows, rear power sliding window, touch screen, Bluetooth, heated mirrors, remote start, customizable display in cluster, dual auto climate control, all those things in the TRD, the sticker was $43k but after rebates I paid $35k OTD.

 

Thankfully I have my relatively new and low mileage Frontier as trade-in to take a good chunk of the blow. haha

 

True, those fullsize trucks can have some insane rebates.

 

But the trade in/resale value cause of those rebates is terrible, one thing that's nice about Toyota.

 

I still can't get over the resale of these Tacos. It's crazy in a good way. lol

 

One of the reasons I was ok taking a hit on my trade in on a new one. The negative equity is all but almost non existent now.

 

That was my main decision on a Tacoma, not to mention how long they last. I see 1st gen Tacos on the road at least once a week. I do not see domestic trucks as often. I know it's all about how well you take care of them but it seems to me like toyota lasts longer for people who are lazy about it haha. I baby my car now but don't always have time to do it the right way.

 

In Tucson you'd see 20 or 30 1st gens in a 30 minute drive through the city.

Same in Austin. They're everywhere. Low, tall, AC, DC, SB, LB, tricked out, plain Jane...tacos are everywhere!

 

Same here in SD. I can be stopped at any light and there will be at least 1 if not 3 Tacomas sitting at the same intersection. lol
