I just bought a 2015 Tacoma last weekend. Love the truck over all, but last night while at a friends house he noticed dents on the top of my roof. We were on his deck/porch area that is above the truck, so that was first time I'd seen the truck from that angle.

I emailed the dealership this morning and I'm waiting on a response. I didn't think I had to get on the truck and examine the roof when buying a brand new truck... I bought it with 10 miles on it and I now have 400 miles on it from driving to work all week. It's very hard to tell and if my friend didn't point it out I probably wouldn't have noticed, but it's very frustrating to find on a brand new 30k+ truck.

Just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen or any advice with dealing with the dealership on this?

What do the dents look like (hail, scratched, sparse, full coverage, etc.)? I would think it'd be pretty hard to get the dealership to do something about it unless you can somehow prove you drove it off the lot that way. Even then, since it's body damage, I wouldn't expect a dealership to offer to fix it.

Are you sure they are dents? I thought I noticed the same thing on my truck, but it was just the way the light was hitting it. Made it look wavy, like someone stood on it.

Your picture shows you standing in your truck bed looking over the roof while what looks like when you bought it, you didn't notice? Depends on your dealer and relationship, since you drove off the lot, they technically don't have to do a thing, you would have to prove it was like that when you bought it. Best of luck.

I'll take pictures on my break. There's no scratch in paint or anything just dent in the contour of the roof. Can only tell because the way the contour runs on one side compared to the side that is dented in.

I couldn't tell even up close until my friend pointed it out and compared to other side of roof. I'm not very observant.

Interesting, wish you luck, that sucks, my truck is like my other girlfriend, if someone or thing mishandles her besides me I would be very upset.

Will be tough for the dealership to take responsibility with 400 miles on the truck.

Worst case they don't fix it , which wont be so bad considering no one will notice it at the end of the day.

Last year some jackass door dinged my new Silverado and I had a dent guy pull it for $50, if no paint damage, the same could probably be done for your truck.

Yea you really can't even tell unless you staring at the truck (we were standing around admiring it) and then comparing to the contour on the other side. Will small dents lead to rusting in long run? If they won't fix it, it doesn't really bother me, as long as its not hurting integrity of it in the long run?

^^ Put a roof rack on it. Shouldn't cause rust unless the paint is scratched to the metal.

Nah, I think you will be okay. Dents only lead to rust if the paint is damaged.

Guess if they don't want to help and fix it i'll stick a roof rack on her. Any good suggestions on roof racks?

Dude, find a ding/dent guy or reputable body shop, dents can easily be popped out for $50-100 especially since yours dosent have paint damage.

I found a small ding on my roof also. I only saw if when I was washing it for the first time. I did not do anything, it does not bother me. It is not deep and about the size of a silver dollar, easily pulled if I wanted it. Heck, I could probably remove the headliner and push it out.

I was just cornered it would be a bigger job because the dent goes into the contour or groove of the roof.

It really can't be that bad, if the OP didn't notice it right off.

^^ Yea i know. It really isn't THAT bad. I literally still can't tell until my friend pointed it out over and over and compared it to the other side, I couldn't believe it or actually see it. It's definitely minor and hard to tell... and YES i feel like a jackass having that picture and now having this issue.

These roofs dent really easy. I dented mine when trying to brace myself while tying down something to my rack.

I ended up doing paintless dent removal and now you can't even tell that it was there.

Granted, no one else wouldve ever noticed the dent on the roof, but it was still bothering me lol.
