OME lift question because I'm dumb

For the people that have this lift, how much of a lift did you get, I have read 2" to 3" and kinda want to know.... Do I need a diff drop? Can I run 33" tires or nah?

 

I got about 2.5".

I run a diff drop, my cv's still look good.

I currently run 255/85/16 tires with no significant rubbing in the front (mud flaps) and i rub in the rear but that could simply be alleviated by adding an axle relocation plate.

 

Exactly what I have. Got about 2 inches lift. I run 31x10.5 R 15's with no rub at all. No idea about 33's. Installed by myself in 4 hours. Do yourself a big favor and get the struts pre-assembled. Also drop the sway bar in the front when assembling, helps heaps with the install of the struts.

 

It's impossible for me to tell how much lift over stock I got because my 180,000 mile old suspension was sagging well below stock.

I did not install the diff drop and my CV angles are completely fine. BDN recommended that I install a 4* shim on the rear spring perches, which I did, and my rear drive shaft and carrier bearing angles are completely fine.

I run 31x10.5r15 and have no issues whatsoever. I cannot speak about 33s.

IMO, for my needs, this lift is the perfect one for me. Great on road, can carry loads beautifully and performs flawlessly off road while also carrying loads.

• Tires size up to 33" will fit on stock ride height with the usual pinch weld mod and minor bumper trim (and backspacing depending on width). That lift raises ride height but the travel of suspension is the same as stock.

 

I ran https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...tireModel=Wrangler+DuraTrac&partnum=875PR6WDT with that same lift on stock alloy wheels. I rub the frame a little at full steering. My buddy is running 32s with an offset steel wheel and will rub the rear fender when he flexes. as far as ride height. If you have a stock bumper, use the 881 spring. If you plan on loading it down with a heavy duty bumper, you might want to consider 883s.

Diff drop is up to you, some run it some don't.
285/75-16 is close to 33" and will fit regardless of lift with a little pinch weld cutting.
Mine rub the frame at full turn on both sides but it's minor. I think that varies too by tire brand and wheel backspacing.

 

I have an 03 Dbl Cab with 2002 4Runner wheels. I plan to get the OME kit as well. Will I clear with 285s? Im sure I'll possibly get a spydertrax wheel spacers?

 

Diff drop doesn't do much but rotate the diff forward a bit, it literally does nothing to help CV angles.

 

Are you sure about that? It did what it was supposed to for me. There are only two mounts for the front diff, which are long arms that extend from the diff to the frame. By adding spacers in those mounts, you are indeed rotating it relative to the frame, but by doing so, you effectively lower it as well.

 

Yup. But because it only drops one side the cvs are only lowered about 1/2" which does help still but not necessary.

 

Here are my CV angles with literally 0 miles (hell, 0 feet) on the new suspension. It's obviously settled a bit thus the angles are even better now.

Thanks! I guess now the question is to find out what backspacing is on 02 TRD 4Runner wheels...

 

Seems to vary by vehicle for some odd reason, but mine did help. I actually pulled the spacers out a couple weeks ago as I wanted to see if it would help with fabricating a skidplate. And I did notice with the spacers out my boot fins rubbed but with it back in they have about an 1/8" of space.
It does not actually drop it 1", more like 1/2" as everybody notices. With a game of inches being played here, I think every little bit helps.

They will clear even without the lift. 285's do require the pinch weld be cut and some mild hammering of the inner fender.
I know nothing about wheel spacers. I feel that the correct back spacing on the rims is a better route. But a lot of guys use them with great luck.

 

Ok so, here's what I have gathered, the diff drop is optional?... It is possible to fit 33s with a little trimming...

 

My OME lift is now 10yrs old (DAMN) and i easily run 255/85/16s (33.4's), no diff drop as its a waste of money and doesn't do anything, cv angles are fine for a lifted truck, get the stuts pre assembled, and if i had to guess i got between 2 and 3"s of lift.
