    It isn't necessarily a must, but it definitely makes things easier for the installer. You may already have one in the box (many companies include them). I know when you buy the system from Crutchfield the bypass module is free of charge.

    That box is the brains of the alarm system. This would be a smaller box that is inline between the brains of the alarm system and the ECU. No worries if you don't have it. Just be aware of it if you go to have in installed and they tell you that you must buy one.

    Didn't mean to scare ya. :eek:

    I will be installing the Python 872 into my truck at some point, and I will be getting the Bypass Module just to simplify the install for myself. I would talk to your installer first and see what their preference is. It is my understanding that the Bypass Module keeps you from having to splice into so many wires in the dash (which is always a good thing).
