I'm no mechanic... but how on earth do you damage a pulley that badly? And how do they "inspect" and replace a belt without noticing a pulley that bent up?

I'm with everyone else. I can't see how this isn't being paid for.

Missed because the tech is paid by the job, not the hour. The dent could of been facing down. If the tech would of saw it the first time thge outcome would be the same at THAT DEALERSHIP.

If a rock etc is tossed up into the pulley and it damages the pulley, that is not a warranty issue. Warranty covers problems that are due to manufacturing issues. Like a bad oil pump. Or a simple rattle in the door like on my truck (they fixed it)

If you get into an accident, is that covered under warranty? No. Consider it a small accident and read your warranty and understand the real world.

10$ per hour mechanic or $50 an hour mechanic? You know anything about that? Or are you just a mountain climbing guy who don't know squat about the fixin of motorcraft?

There you go, any mechanic worth a damn. You think the dealer mechanics are all NASA NASCAR quality mechanics? You want that? $300 per hour for a expert. Maybe think about how a large garage operates and the pay scales. New guys get the easy tasks. Then they become competent changing oil etc. Then they get more tasks.

I'm a fix it guy on big $100,000,000++ machines. Not everyone has a Harry Potter wand and even the Harry Potters make mistakes.

What if the mechanic just found out his dog died and his wife is pregnant with twins? It happens in reality buddy.

You expect perfection but you still spill your coffee and forget to lock the door. You expect others to do the same? Or you miss the grab and you fall off the mountain? Beekeeper. Cool.

DoorDing. Good name. Meaningless on my truck, it's a truck.

Maybe the expert beekeeper rock guy needs to expect reality in the motorcraft world.

I would contact Toyota. There is no way you caused the damage. It looks to me that the pulley was dropped before it was installed and the factory put it on anyway.

This should have been done the first time a nearly new truck came in with a nearly new belt that was frayed. Mechanic just want paying attention and was simply operating like a food assembly line in my opinion.

Yes stuff happens. But a new truck with a new belt that is already frayed should raise flags.

That is some dent! IMO I don't see how that could happen without other damage under the hood ( fan blades, shroud etc ). You must have a crappy dealer that wouldn't cover that.
