What bank do you have??? If you can get more interest from a bank account than your loan is costing you, I want to open an account there. If you have a zero interest loan, you can be assured that you paid for it somewhere else. Not trying to brag, but I haven't had a car loan in 20 years.

Nobody is impressed, but congrats? I'll compare w2's and penis size with you if you want, but your paid off beater doesn't impress me. :bananadance:

not sure I would classify an 08' Tacoma as a "beater"

I am waiting to do the major mods after its paid off. Focusing on learning what scheduled maintenance needs to be completed first then thinking about the leaf pack though and changing all lights to LEDs. Oh, I got plans but I want to be sure this truck makes it before I dump the money into it. Who knows, maybe I will trade in my 2010 TRD OR for a 2015 TRD OR in 2020 when its paid off. At that time it may not be worth it dumping the mods I have planned into a truck whose engine and drivetrain is getting tired after a decade. It may have 250k+ miles on it and I hope I can source a '15 Taco in '20 for a lot less miles than the current one had. I hope to jump into a '15 Taco just as the warranty expires so I know that it was serviced as intended.

I made it a week before I started modding then I found this place. Needless to say I'm a year and half into my payments and every bit of extra cash I get goes into the truck or into a trip. Also helps my old lady randomly buys parts and stuff lol

I've never waited. My last vehicle that had payments was a Grand Cherokee. It was hacked and on 33's with swapped axles before it was paid off.

I would never stiff them because I did something. its my responsibility.

I was thinking I'd start doing a bunch of stuff after I had mine paid off. This isn't the case anymore since the money isn't coming as easily as it once did. Just put rock sliders on and I have a set of FJ wheels sitting till my stock tires wear out and I have the cash to get new ones.

Get that stock stuff off ASAP so you can sell it while it's still worth something...That being said I wish I just bought a base Taco and saved the 8K to start.

There was a time when the first thing i did was hack up the exhaust on my vehicles as soon as i got them. From 16 to 25 every car or truck i had, i modded the exhaust on each of them. I'm 26 and my taco was brand new. I'm really resisting the urge to do anything.

I did tint the windows, and put a new shift knob on but that's about it for now. Floor mats and seat covers will come before the winter. When something breaks or wears out i'll upgrade.

The only thing I did was new tires right away. Drove it stock and threw money at the loan, paid the sucker off in 2 years. I ended up getting the shell but glad I waited on everything else I thought I wanted because I don't really want them anymore.

I agree with this 100%. I should have just bought a v6 4x4 SR5 but they didn't have any on the lot and I was being impatient. Oh well, I like my truck regardless.

My plan is actually the opposite: mod it UNTIL I pay it off :)

Have my fourth Tacoma with an FJ Cruiser along the way. Performed various mods and have come to the conclusion that although they helped me go where I wanted I could have done that mostly stock. Drive your truck for awhile and find out what you will do with it. Will maybe save yourself some money. Got mine in April and have only changed tires and have been ok on forest and old logging roads. That is all I need and my wallet is happy.
4 Wheel Parts love people that throw a lot of money at new vehicles.

The manufacturer's new warranty of 36K miles / 36 months, whichever comes first.

10 years ago I would have had tires, wheels, lift, bumper, crawlers done within the first year. Now that I get AARP delivered monthly I bought a nice cap so the dog doesn't have to ride up front and that's it.

Here and there wont hurt. Craigslist is your friend!!!. I am financing mines and have only had it for less than a month, and ive already bought Weathertech digital fit floormats & bilstein leveling shocks with Eibachs of CL for 320 dollars, which I dont think is too bad. Hopefully the level will keep me content for a couple years LOL.
