I didn't say lifted, I said jacked up, which is different.

When I went into the dealer about 10 or so years ago with the intention of buying a Colorado, it had a 5 cylinder engine, and I thought it had only 1 engine choice.

The Z71 was not available with the 4cyl. However it was available with the 5.3L V8. :)

The likely reason the transmission hesitates is to prevent downshifting to save fuel. I've read auto reviews that had the same complaint.

    Good eye, sir.

I can't stand the looks of them, but I wouldn't mind test driving one of the v8 versions.:bananadance:

In my opinion, the only good thing about Chevy is the duramax diesel and Allison trans, there interiors aren't great, the body styling is bland, but those mechanics seem to run for a very long time.

Even the upper trim models feel cheap inside. My Tacoma Sport is pretty basic in comparison to features, but the interior is definitely better. What I fear is the 3rd gen Tacoma trying to keep up and throwing a bunch of cheap fluffy shit into the truck that'll break in 5 years.

The 5.3 was only in the late model first gen. 2010-2012. Unfortunately like the rest of that line up it was paired with a 4spd. The late model first gens looked better anyway.

I have a 2014 Silverado for my work truck and it is the same way with the transmission, punch it and there is a long pause until it gets going. My tacoma on the other hand takes off immediately in comparison. Surprising he went with another Colorado after issues with his first, I traded mine for my Tacoma after all my issues with it.

We already know they went cheap on the trans, diesel version gets the same auto as the 3.6. They just installed a dampner on the input shaft so the diesel won't shake it to death. Would of been awesome to have a baby Allison with the baby dmax.

One thing to think about. Gasoline choice makes a world of difference in a few newer cars in have driven.

Chevron makes my civic run like shit....hesitates sometimes, power goes away and the engine struggles getting up to highway speed. I have been solely running shell for a few months and it has been night and day in responsiveness and power.

I drive a cruise for work its horrible. The turbo lags til like 4k in anything above 80 degree weather. The interior is nice in that car. The Colorado interior sucks and he seats feel worn out when they deliver the truck.

A few will buy them for the novelty but it won't put a dent in the Taco sales. The buyers will be Chevy owners regardless. There is no economic value of a diesel ...they cost too much to begin with and the payback is longer then the time it will start giving you problems. And slow ? They have no more horsepower then the four !

im surprised he did too! I know he had some big issues with his dealer with his old truck. He called chevy corporate and bitched, and they offered him a large rebate on the new truck, hence why he got it.

I never noticed the lag in silverados and tahoes. All the other cars were awful. I thought the larger vehicles they made smoother but I didn't think it was uncomfortable like the Cruze.

But I've noticed a few significant differences in those markets (CA and W Europe for me)

    1) Diesel is much cheaper at the pump that gas. Significantly.

    2) Old cities with small and rough roadways, who cares if it's slow? You're not going anywhere fast anyway.

    3) Newer vehicles, and ones made for a 'load' or open roads (trucks, vans, etc) are almost all turbo'd, making up for a lot of the HP.

    4) Almost everything in these markets are manual transmission. Even what we'd consider 'city buses'. Knowing how to row, combined with the turbo, makes a lot of difference in performance too.

    5) For those who can tinker, turning up boost on a diesel is pretty safe.

    6) In the rural areas (particularly CA), the diesel will often outlast what it's installed in. Bodies take a beating, as 'overland' is just how you live, not to mention 'overloading'.

My question is: Why exactly would you want a diesel for a midsize truck? I understand some people want it for hauling/towing, but come on... it's a MIDSIZE truck. If I used my truck for work all the time, I would buy a full size diesel to do the job. In my opinion a diesel for midsize lineups just wouldn't pay off due to their size and "lacking" work capabilities. That's just my $0.02. :crapstorm:
