Let's get it done man! I'll just order new axles asap. Then replace the boots on the originals and have some spares.

If its anything like on a suburban its pretty easy . Unbolt a bunch of stuff and then the CV comes out. Just remember to have some new diff fluid since youll lose some when you pull the CV out.

I have this week off if you want to tackle it.

 

I think its 4 bolts total. It can be hard either getting the old out or new in, can't remember.. Dakota just did it though so maybe he knows a trick?

 

Think its a couple more than four. Four is just for the hub. Still it shouldnt be bad. Take wheel off, break 35mm nut loose, take caliper offf, pull rotor off, 4 bolts for the wheel bearing, then maybe unbolting for just easier access. Thats how it was on the suburban and looking at my truck looks to be the same sort of deal.

I know they make a tool for getting the cv axle out but we just used a prybar and were able to get it out that way. Getting it back in it just slide right in.

Course it always sounds easier on paper than doing it

 

I've done it on a few fwd cars. I've also done a couple birfields on SA Toyotas, so I'm not too worried about what to attack. Tomorrow I should have sliders installed by end of the day. Before or after my fantasy draft.

 

It's easy. Just follow the thread on it. Instead of using the tool I just used a pry bar and hammered against the notches. Came right out

 

Am I still good for a Monday pickup?

 

I'm not sure if he's gonna bend both sets at the same time or do one side and make sure it comes out good. I'll keep you posted at some point tomorrow. I'm taking a break at 2 to draft.

Casey said the pipe hasn't showed up yet. And he's got no power at the shop from the windstorm. He's gonna be at a drift comp next weekend, he's hoping to get the pipe this week and if I can leave my truck at his place, he'll make some progress hopefully before he leaves. So now what to do today? Fantasy draft and bear hunt after? What do you think @Usethe2nd? You down to chase a bear through the woods?

I got dumped on last night in the tent and need to let it air out this week.

 

Yeah screw it i wanna install some new front axels myself. I ordered them today, hopefully if everything goes good ill get the new ones in before this weekend.

 

Where you gonna get them from? OEM replacements?
