Set to 0? How much lift did you get out of them? Doesn't the ome coils in a 5100 void the 5100 lifetime warranty?

So many threads.....so many views......sorry, I had a couple of rough sessions with clients today so my head is spinning.

I don't know about the warranty, never cared. They're set at zero which gives me between 2.5-3 inches.

Hmm, that might be the problem, I fly thru trails with my OME setup, anything less stiff and it would bottom out. I know cause I do quite a few miles on logging roads for work and my colleague with his F150, cant follow me cause he keep hitting his bump stops in the rough stuff.

I'm waiting for OME's BP-51 shocks for that one. When is it gonna be available anyways?

Yeah I'm another 885 owner who isn't too happy with my setup. Driving on the road it rides great. It's coming off the backside of bumps that is killing me. I work construction and drive on a pretty wide variety of terrain. On areas I would describe as logging roads, some small woops and soft dirt/gravel, it rides just fine. We are building a large warehouse right now. I park inside on the concrete during the day. When I drive out there is a 3" lip that drops onto gravel. When i cross over it it feels like my front wheels are being shot out of a cannon downwards and makes the infamous clank. Same with speed bumps and some expansion joints in the road. I have LR UCA'S and there is no contact between any of my suspension parts. Would King's or Fox's handle that type of thing better? I'm seriously considering changing and I've only had the OME on for about six months. The back rides great for some reason.

FWIW when I had my tundra (with Kings) it did the same thing. But I will mention that I had it maxed out to give me the most lift possible.

Great post. I second the experience with OME coils and 5100 struts. I have 884 coils (same spring rate as 885/887) and 5100 struts and the ride is great. I have never experienced any harshness, clunking, or topping out in my day-to-day driving or mild off-roading. The ride is definitely stiffer than the squishy stock suspension, but as far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing.

I've got 886x with Nitrochargers. (Can't recall which ones at the moment. It was the newer "sport ride" version.) I've been up in VT all this week just going around on dirt roads with the occasional washboard, and I feel like everything is so stiff, even keeping it under 30MPH, that the truck barely has any time to absorb any of the dips and ruts before I hit the next one. Super rough ride, and that's with an ARB front bumper and a winch. I'm getting armor in this week, which I'm hoping will put enough weight on the suspension to slow it down a little on the rebound, but if I can't get this dialed in soon I may start all over. On road ride is fine until I hit potholes or cobblestones (I live in NYC), and I find myself clenching a lot in anticipation of feeling the whole truck shudder over each road anomaly. I knew the 886s were stiff, and I'm not opposed to a stiff ride, but just throwing this out there for future purchasers. The whole truck has a stance like a scared cat with four legs in the air.

so it's pretty much the front shocks topping out right? does this happen with the 5100's as well?

Just got an email from DSM. They recommend the kings with a 600 lb spring for the guys that use their trucks for hunting and daily driving.

Just came across this thread because I've had this clank noise (front end) for a while when I hit a dip. IE when the susp is compressed. I've tightened everything up numerous times and the interesting thing is it only does it the first time you hit the dip? If I turn around and hit it again no noise until it has some time to settle then hit a dip or big bump again? I've done everything except pull the struts. Maybe I should get some small spacers and top plates for my stock Bils and put them on and see if its the 5100's?
OP - The other thing is as far as a rough ride I though I would add that I have 5100's and the Eibach (toytec) springs and I've always felt it rides great on or off road. Not harsh at all but can handle loads or very rough roads at speed or not! Not sure how the springs compare to OME? Also I have the clip on the .85 slot so the front netted about 2.5". I didn't want more than that for the top out reason and I'm running the OEM UCA's still so all is good with my budget lift except the occasional clank. BTW it hasn't settled more than 3/8" in 4 years.

I would guess you are hearing your LCA bushings, which are starting to seize. Mine have been doing something similar. I can't find any info on whether or not they'll grenade on me, or just get stiffer and noisier...

I'm adding my story to this thread since I posted in way back when.

So I was afflicted by the chain-shackle effect of the OME shock being too short. On Saturday I swapped out the OME shock and put in the Bilstein 5100 shock. I'm using 885 coils. It's like night and day. The truck feels amazing and did really well off road! All of the pain and suffering is gone.

I still need to pull my ome off the truck. It is starting to sag and now the front tires are rubbing the fenders when you turn, 9800 miles on my taco, 4800 miles on the ome kit. The rear rides okay, they just need to figure out how get some travel in the front.

@TREED JT, I hope you saw my post, right before yours. The Bilstein 5100 shock, paired with the 885 coil solved my woes. The 5100 yields about 1.2" more travel, and made all the difference in the world. I suffered tremendously with the OME shock. In my experience, OME shock is like a chain shackle locking the LCA to the frame, crippling my truck. I had about 6,000 miles on the OME before I took it out. What a freaking nightmare.

I wrote more here and more in build thread.
