Wondering if anybody out there has any experience of a mod like this.
I have located the units (they have an in line fuse) I want to use and think I can dremel out a suitable hole.
Would I need to run the wire all the way to the panel by the drivers footwell or could I power it off one the lighter sockets in the center console.
I am also looking at putting a similar USB charger in the center console where the stock USB is located.
    Thanks

Yes there has been quite a few people put usb charging into the center console or other area's of the truck. You do need to run wires to the location of the USB input.

I like this idea. Do you happen to have a write up on how to do it?

There are a few on here. You just tap into the factory inverter(if you have one) which is directly under that.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
When I put my CB in the center console, I added a Blue Sea plug so that I could charge my phone, GoPro and any other USB devices. You could easily relocate it to suit your needs once you have the center console out. I just ran power from an aux fuse panel and voila!

Sweet, thanks a million. Looks clean. Did you fab a backing plate or did it come with two side by side outlets that way?

There is a plate surrounding it. It's a thin piece of steel that was cut out, and has some tabs on the bottoms and sides to secure it.

    Overkill is fun.

This part also had to be pulled out and cut as well so the CB could fit inside.

I don't have an inverter there, so it wasn't a issue for me.

I just got tired of my radio looking like this

But either way, it's easy to route the power to the center console. I'd honestly pull it from the battery to have always on power.

I'll order two of them tonight. Kids are so much quieter when they are plugged in on a 3+ hour road trip...saves me reaching over trying to grab them for the beats for being too loud while driving one handed down the highway with my wife screeming like a Banshee in fear of her life as I swerve all over the highway...not really but the visual could be out of a National Lampoons Road Trip movie. Lmao.
