I'm with you Yoda. All great info, and makes perfect sense. I've noticed very obvious results with nothing more than removing the charcoal filter alone. I'll soon install the rest of the setup and look forward to it.

I purchase my truck new at the end of July (2015)...maybe late August. It had 06 miles on it, which were mostly put in it from my test drive. My truck now has 7,158 miles on it. I have kept track of the economy on every single tank. Carrying my usual load and loaded up. I've kept track of what I've done to it and seen the patterns.

On the other hand you invest your time on a forum, not to be constructive but to instead, insult people who try things and share their data; which is the purpose of a forum.

It doesn't take complicated rocket maths to determine if you are running with more or less efficiency. Any person capable of simple math or capable of using a calculator can see differences at the pump.

Your comment is unfounded and doesn't make any sense.

You and your buddies have de railed this thread more than anything else. If you don't like it and if you've determined we are all idiots, do yourself a favor and stay out of the thread.

Listen here to professor Peabody.. One thing i see that is seldom not discussed on CAI's is along with the colder air introduced the engine compensates with more fuel to hold the afr's which should equal more HP. Anyway enjoy the video.. :)

I have not seen anyone in this thread claim to know you or insult you.

Your above quote is another display of an attempt to insult people, and over what? Because they are trying things and sharing their data?

Or are we comparing how many new vehicles we've owned in the last 5 years?

I also said, "Rocket maths," with humor. Here is that quote:

You're statement about "bolt ons" is inaccurate. And from a technical point, the TRD super charger is a big bolt on.

Generally speaking, people go on the Internet to make noise because they are unhappy. Like leaving a review for a dealer - it's not very often people leave reviews because they are satisfied with their service.

When I was racing SuperStock, by definition of SS, we were only allowed very few changes by regulation and those changes were all bolt on. Even suspension - re valving shocks and changing spring rates was all done with "bolt on" components. Everyone one of us that was competitive changed the induction and exhaust, sprockets etc to have our bikes running as efficiently as possible. More efficiency means better economy and more power. Better economy means less fuel. Less fuel means my bike is lighter when the flag drops.

People...enthusiast will always look for ways to increase efficiency.

    Math, by definition, is data.

The K&N intake includes a dyno sheet with a comparison of a 4.0 Tacoma before and after showing an 8.7 increase in horse power and torque. I didn't get the whole AEM system since my truck came with a TRD filter but I wouldn't be surprised if they provided a dyno sheet either. I don't have the aFe intake but from looking at their site a dyno sheet is also provided.

Manufacturers make huge improvements in their products through racing - racing has a lot to do with it.

Your supercharger for example is a product made by Toyota Racing Development.

It's right there in the name.

The question for the OP is...what did you modify on/in your engine to require increased air flow? If Toyota engineers could increase HP and/or MPGs with just simple mods to the stock air box don't you think they'd just do it from the start?

Your math is off. Tricycles have 3 wheels. Motorcycles have 2 wheels.

Unless it is forced induction it wont matter how much air flow you have.. you could have a 4 foot wide airfilter, with the best airflow known to man, and you arent going to improve a damn thing.. you are still going into a tube into the throttle body that is the stock size..... which is the stock size. Take a 7/11 Big gulp cup, poke a hole in the bottom.. put a straw in the hole.. now put the straw in your mouth.. are you getting all the air that is coming into the cup.. of course not.. you are getting what can fit in the straw... and this is a No airflow restriction scenario with no filter..

now all that being said, you could do the mod that alot have done on here and get an FJ throttle body which is larger than the tacoma and thus in turn are getting more air to the engine...
