The joy of no longer being in school is that answer managerial action items is that they want the answer. They could care less what my spreadsheets look like so long as the numbers are correct.

I also use my spreadsheets to do math for me. Take that, teach!

Found out the v6 is supposed to come with 3.91 gears. That will make up for the power difference against the Coloraydo

I had a price of $35k on an XLT Saturday. I'm going to try to poke around for a Lariat with a sport package but may have to wait a while to get one or wait till 2016s come out.
If you get at Ford at the right time you can get a truck well under MSRP. You can get a Lariat in the low 40s.

A Taco is less expensive when looking at price. But that to me is what is comparing apples to oranges. A full size is capable of a hell of a lot more work. It also has hundred fold more luxury features. So a Taco is beyond over priced for what it is compared to a 150.
A Ford is worth its value, I'm not sure a Taco is (to me).

I've owned two 250's in the last 9 years. The only reason that is two instead of one is because the SO and I needed a double cab. You replace Tacos a awful lot to comment on reliability and lifetime costs.
My Fords have done very well. My first one had transmission work before I bought it BUT the truck didn't start out overpriced. If you consider that Toyotas may be over priced by about $2-3k because of market/hype think of it from the perspective that $2-3k can buy you a hell of a lot of repairs in a less reliable vehicle. So they getcha no matter what. Toyota just gets you day 1.
Toyota has also had some of the biggest/worst recalls. The importance is how the company handles problems. Toyota did very well with the frame rust issue. But Toyota still has problems with their trucks.
I think both companies are very good, I'm just not comfortable with the cost of a midsize Toyota truck. Especially when I already have a list of $4k worth of mods I want to do with it but like none with a Ford.

So just need to mull it over and see the new Taco before I buy.

I wish they were doing a redesign of the Tundra and getting a good looking body style with an eco 6-cyl for 2017.

But its the price for what I'm getting not the overall price I'm belly aching over. I'll pay $40something for a Lariat but $36k for a Taco is pushing insanity.
Feel free to hold this post over me if I buy a Taco.

Get the F150. They are good trucks and sale by the boat load for a reason. No need to justify why you choose to buy one in case you do.. These thing are by no means "cheap", whether it's 35K Taco or 35K 1/2 ton Ford/GM. So when someone comes in here and mentions how overpriced a Tacoma is right now, I always fall back to the old saying "you get what you pay for".. It just boggles my mind that ppl still fall for these 10K discounts on Fords and GMs.. They do this every year for a reason.. I know of some fellas at work getting as much as 13K last year on a 1/2 ton double cab 4x4.. Not sure if they were GM or Fords, but geez! No matter how you slice it that's a lot of cheese to "discount" on a new vehicle on a yearly basis.. I know they make their money from volume sales, but that translates to lower quality and lower resale..
