    As long as it works for you that's all that matters! I like the idea of a teardrop - little safer, cozier - but then I think that if I'm going to be towing a trailer around I want a damn bathroom! :laugh:
    And as many teardrop manufacturers that there are out there I don't really like any one design so I've thought about invading dad's garage and building one. Just got to get dad's permission (and help) to do it. Ideally I'd have one with an actual galley - two burner stove, hand pump sink, room for an ARB freezer - and enough headroom in the sleeping quarters to arrange the cushions/mattress into a sofa so you have somewhere to sit on a rainy day. The Pinecones are pretty nice, kitchen is a little lacking though

    but, but....what if you have to go at 3am?!?! I'm fine with tent camping for now but I know eventually I'll end up getting a trailer just to have a few more creature comforts.
    My folks have a huge trailer and its ridiculous. I don't know why they even bother going out....mom packs a blender, toaster, full size upright vacuum.... :facepalm:

    All good points to consider which is why I started with this one. Didn't want to spend big dough on a teardrop that has lots of things I won't end up using. Scooped this bad boy up for a deal and I plan on using it a lot this fall and next spring. I'll reevaluate then and see if I need to upgrade anything or replace it with something bigger.

    I first had my eye on Aliners but just couldn't justify spending the money on them. New or used they command a lot of cash.

    At this point I was looking for three things - easier set up & takedown, better shelter than a tent for inclement weather and affordable. So far so good!

    I've been living out of my tent since May 15th to save money on rent. If I do it again or in the future I'm seriously considering a 18-20ft camper with an empty weight of no more then 4500 lbs. Ideally 3500 lbs.

    A bathroom and shower will be on the short list.

    That's kinda where I am - I don't want to spend a ton of money buying (or time building) one only to hate it. I've done enough RV camping with my folks and tent camping on my own to have a pretty good idea of what I absolutely need. Don't have much experience towing so that's another big draw back for me

    One thing I hate about most of the smaller "weekender" campers is that they don't have a full stove/oven and fridge/freezer, just a two burner cooktop and an under counter fridge. Older models of the same floor plans do have them so its just another way they've tried to lower the manufacturing costs.

    I have the solar panel hooked up with a cheap solar regulator to my stand alone 105 AH AGM battery that I store underneath my sleeping platform. From my battery I've ran a fuse and set of lines to my 900W inverter. I've also added a circuit breaker and another set of lines to my custom fuse/control/power box. This box has 2 x 12v sockets, 2 x USB charging ports, 4 switches for LED lighting (one strip centered inside, one on the hatch, and one on each of my windoors.) I also have a LED dimmer switch that runs all 4 lights and a volt/amp meter with a push button to turn the meter on/off. With some careful layout and planning, everything just barely fit inside this ABS project box.

    I do plan on upgrading the solar regulator I have with a DC-DC charger/solar regulator like the "Ctek d250s dual" that will charge off the trucks alternator and also off the solar panel once I buy myself a 12v fridge and have a larger load. As of right now with my current setup the solar panel has no issues keeping up with what I'm drawing from the battery and I was able to last two weeks on the road with this setup and never once had a dead battery.
